Katrine Koch Jacobsen (born 24 June 1999) is a Danish hammer thrower. She holds Denmark's national record in the hammer throw. [1]
She set a new Danish national record for the hammer throw in March 2021, recording a distance of 64.68 metres. [2] By September of that year she had extended that record a further eight times, culminating in breaking the 70 metres barrier. [3] In June 2022, she broke the Danish national record for the tenth time in 15 months. [4]
She competed at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in the women's hammer in Eugene, Oregon. [5] She competed at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich. [6] She competed at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest in the women's hammer throw. [7]
She placed fifth overall at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome in the hammer throw. [8] [9] She competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics and threw the automatic qualification distance for the final with the fifth longest distance in qualifying. [10]
The hammer throw is one of the four throwing events in regular outdoor track and field competitions, along with the discus throw, shot put and javelin.
Kamila Skolimowska was a Polish hammer thrower. She is best known for her gold medal in the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics, which made her the youngest Olympic hammer champion, as well as for her two medals from the European Championships. Her personal best throw, and former Polish record, was 76.83 metres, achieved in May 2007 in Doha. She died on 18 February 2009 in Vila Real de Santo António, Portugal at the Polish national team training camp.
Dame Valerie Kasanita Adams is a retired New Zealand shot putter. She is a four-time World champion, four-time World Indoor champion, two-time Olympic, three-time Commonwealth Games champion and twice IAAF Continental Cup winner. She has a personal best throw of 21.24 metres (69.7 ft) outdoors and 20.98 metres (68.8 ft) indoors. These marks are Oceanian, Commonwealth and New Zealand national records. She also holds the Oceanian junior record (18.93 m) and the Oceanian youth record (17.54 m), as well as the World Championships record, World Indoor Championships record and Commonwealth Games record.
Enezaide do Rosário da Vera Cruz Gomes is a Portuguese retired athlete who competed primarily in long jump. Born in São Tomé and Príncipe, she moved to Lisbon when she was 11 and began formally practising athletics when she was 13. She initially competed at international events as a representative of São Tomé and Príncipe before becoming a naturalised citizen of Portugal in 2001. Prior to changing her nationality, she set a São Toméan national record in every type of event she competed in at the international level, including women's 100 metres hurdles, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, javelin throw, pentathlon, and heptathlon. She also holds the Portuguese national records in women's long jump, high jump, pentathlon, and heptathlon. At the club level, she represented Sporting CP and was coached by Abreu Matos.
Aksana Miankova, also transliterated as Oksana Menkova, is a Belarusian hammer thrower. Her personal best of 78.69 m ranks her as the third best woman of all-time.
Anita Włodarczyk is a Polish hammer thrower. She is the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympic champion, and the first woman in history to throw the hammer over 80 m; she currently holds the women's world record of 82.98 m. She is considered the greatest female hammer thrower of all time.
Kara Estelle Winger is an American track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. She is the American record holder in the javelin throw with a distance of 68.11 m.
Eivind Henriksen is a Norwegian athlete competing in hammer throw. He is a three-time Olympian and won the silver medal in the men's hammer throw event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Henriksen is also a World Championships and European Championships bronze medalist, and a thirteen-time Norwegian champion in hammer throw.
DeAnna Marie Price, OLY is an American track and field athlete competing primarily in the hammer throw. Price's personal best in the hammer is 80.31 m (263 ft 5 in), the American record, set at the 2021 US Olympic trials. The throw ranked her as the #2 women's thrower in history.
