Katura Horton-Perinchief (born 26 February 1983) is a Bermudian diver. [1] She competed in the women's 3 metre springboard event at the 2004 Summer Olympics. [2] She also competed at the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games. [3] Horton-Perinchief was the first black woman to compete in diving at the Olympics. [4] [5] She was also the first female to compete for Bermuda in diving at the Olympics, and the first Bermudian diver at the Olympics since the 1952 Summer Olympics. [4] [6]
Horton-Perinchief was born in Paget, Bermuda in 1983. [2] Her mother, Ellen-Kate Horton, represented Bermuda in softball, [4] while her father, Philip Perinchief, was the Attorney General of Bermuda. [4] She began diving in competitions when she was seven years old, at events in Canada, [4] and went to school in Toronto. [7] At the age of fifteen, she was the Canadian National Champion, winning three gold medals across three different events. [4] She went on to represent Bermuda at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the 2003 Pan American Games. [4] [8]
At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Horton-Perinchief competed in the women's 3 metre springboard event, finishing in 30th place. [9] [10] She was also the flag bearer for Bermuda at the closing ceremony. [11]
She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in French, [4] and became the Diving Team Captain in 2004. [4] She later went to study at George Washington University, where she was recruited as the university's diving coach. [4] She achieved Masters degrees in public health (MPH) and business administration (MBA). She also sits on the board of the Bermuda Olympic Association. [4]
After the Olympics, Horton-Perinchief was forced to retire in 2008 from diving through injuries, arthritis, [4] [12] and a cerebral cyst. [10]
Émilie-Joane Heymans is a Canadian diver. She was born in Brussels, Belgium and raised in Greenfield Park, a suburb of Montreal. Heymans has won four Olympic medals, two bronze and two silver. She was the first female diver to win medals in four consecutive Olympic games and the first Canadian to win medals in four consecutive Olympics. Heymans also is a one time world champion and has won four Pan American championships as well as one Commonwealth Games championship. In addition she has won multiple medals in all three of these competitions.
Alexandre Despatie is a Canadian diver and broadcaster from Laval, Quebec. He was the world champion at the 1 and 3 m springboards from 2005 to 2007 and is the first, and so far only, diver to have been world champion in all three individual categories. He is also a 37-time Canadian senior diving champion and nine-time junior champion, and the most decorated male diver in Canadian history, winning two Olympic silver medals and reaching eight podiums at the world championships, including three gold medals. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Chantelle Lee Newbery is an Australian former diver. She won a gold medal in diving at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and in 2006 became the 22nd athlete to be named in the Australian Institute of Sport Awards' "Best of the Best".
Guo Jingjing is a retired Chinese female diver, and multi-time Olympic gold medalist and world champion. Guo is tied with her partner Wu Minxia for winning the most Olympic medals (6) of any female diver and she won the 3m springboard event at five consecutive World Championships. She announced her retirement in 2011.
The 14th Pan American Games were held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from August 1 to August 17, 2003.
Jennifer Abel is a Canadian former diver. She is currently partnered with Mélissa Citrini-Beaulieu for synchronized diving. She won an Olympic bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 3 m synchro diving event with Émilie Heymans and a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the same event with Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu. Abel is a four-time Commonwealth Games champion in the 1 m and 3 m synchronized springboard; and is also a three-time Pan American Games champion in the 3 m springboard and 3 m synchronized springboard. Her ten medals at the FINA World Championships are a record for most medals by a Canadian in diving at the world championships.
Anabelle "Belle" Smith is an Australian diver. She is 2022 Commonwealth Games champion in the 3 metre synchronized springboard. She competed in the 3 m springboard synchronized event at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. She won a bronze medal in 2016, and was placed fifth in 2012.
Tandi Jane Indergaard is a South-African born English diver, who specialized in individual and synchronized springboard events. Since 2001, Indergaard holds a dual citizenship with South Africa and Great Britain in order to compete internationally for diving. She is a three-time British diving champion and a bronze medalist for the synchronised springboard at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia.
Ooi Tze Liang is a Malaysian diver. Ooi has represented Malaysia in various diving events such as 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, 2013 Southeast Asian Games and 2015 Southeast Asian Games.
Oliver Dingley is an international diver who represents Ireland. He represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In doing so, he became the first Irish Diver to compete at the Olympics in 68 years. RTÉ’s highest rating sports event at the 2016 Olympics was Dingley’s 3m springboard final, with an average of 388,000 viewers. Dingley has won numerous national and international medals.

Maddison Keeney is an Australian diver. She won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, gold medals at the 2017 and 2019 World Aquatics Championships and 2022 Commonwealth Games, and silver medals at the 2014, 2018, and 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Yona Roshen Knight-Wisdom is a Jamaican diver, who competed at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, and came second in the 1 metre springboard event at the 2019 Pan American Games. He was the first Jamaican male diver at an Olympic Games.
Grace Elizabeth Reid is a Scottish diver representing Scotland and Great Britain, and specialising in 1 metre and 3 metre springboard disciplines. She is a double gold medalist at both the European Championships and the Commonwealth Games, and a three-time national champion.
Brittany Mae O'Brien is an Australian diver. She competed at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. She attended Pymble Ladies' College and graduated in 2016. She also owns a Jewellery Brand called Draco Jewellery which she launched in 2020.
Anthony Abraham Turner was a diver who competed for England. He competed in two events at the 1952 Summer Olympics. Turner also represented England and won a silver medal in the 3 metres springboard at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver, Canada.
Alison Drake is a female former diver who competed for England. She competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics and the 1980 Summer Olympics.
Barbara Ethel McAulay Donnet was an Australian diver. She competed in the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games and the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games.
Kathy Kelemen is a Canadian diver. She competed in the women's 10 metre platform event at the 1984 Summer Olympics and won bronze medals in each of the 1982 and 1986 Commonwealth Games.
Julie Farrell-Ovenhouse is an American diver. She competed in the women's 3 metre springboard event at the 1992 Summer Olympics. She has been described as "the greatest diver, male or female, to ever come through Michigan State".
