Kavita Paudwal Tulpule (born 1974), is an Indian singer. [2] [3] [4] [5] She is known for singing devotional songs Bhajan and has released around 40 music albums, including Gayatri Mantra, Krishna and Lakshmi and Amrutvani. [6] [7] She has been singing devotional songs since 1995. [8] [9] She has lent her voices for hit songs like Haiyya (1995), Mirch Masala (1996), and Julie I love you. [10] She has done playback singing for many Bollywood films, including Tohfa (1984), Junoon (1992), Phool Bane Patthar (1998), Bhavna (1984), and Angaaray (1998). [11] [12]

She sings predominantly in Hindi lanugauge films and music albums but has also sung in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Nepali, Malayalam, Oriya, Bhojpuri and other Indian languages. [6]

Early life and education

Paudwal holds a commerce degree from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. [13] She completed her master's degree in interactive media from Tisch School of Arts, New York University. [10] She was trained in Hindustani classical music by Pandit Jialal Vasant and Suresh Wadkar and her parents Arun Paudwal and Anuradha Paudwal. [6]

Career

At the age of 13, she debuted as a playback singer from Mahesh Bhatt's film Junoon . By the time Kavita was 16, she had composed music for two films. Kavita has given her voice to various film composers like A. R. Rahman, Lakshmikant-Pyarelal, Anu Malik, Bappi Lahiri. She has done playback singing for actresses like Kajol, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonali Bendre, Pooja Bhatt. She has launched 40 devotional music CDs with T-Series. She has sung with co-singers like Hariharan, Sonu Nigam, Javed Ali and Shaan. [13]

Paudwal has done playback singing for the film such as Tohfa (1984), Bhavna (1984), Amchyasarkhe Aamich (1990), Jamla Ho Jamla (1995), Phool Bane Patthar (1998), Ratchagan (1997), Minsara Kanavu (1997), Krantikari (1997), Angaaray (1998), Love You Hamesha (2001) and Heroine No 1(2001). [11] [12]

In November 2019, she collaborated with Pankaj Udhas for a Marathi Bhavgeet single, titled Ranga Dhanoocha Zhula. [14]

Pankaj Udhas was an Indian ghazal and playback singer known for his works in Hindi cinema, and Indian pop. He started his career with the release of a ghazal album titled Aahat in 1980 and subsequently recorded many hits like Mukarar in 1981, Tarrannum in 1982, Mehfil in 1983, Pankaj Udhas Live at Royal Albert Hall in 1984, Nayaab in 1985 and Aafreen in 1986. The ceremony was held on 29 February 2016 at the Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai and was hosted by Sonu Nigam. There were many performances, including those by Mika Singh, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Amaal Mallik, Palak Muchhal and Badshah. Bajirao Mastani won a leading seven awards including Album of the Year. The 7th Mirchi Music Awards, presented by the Radio Mirchi, honoured the best of Hindi music from the year 2014. The ceremony was held on 26 February 2015 at the Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai and was hosted by Aditya Narayan and Karishma Tanna. There were many performances, including those by Palak Muchhal, Usha Uthup, Benny Dayal, Shankar Mahadevan and Shruti Pathak. CityLights won a leading three awards. 2 States was awarded the Album of the Year, while "Zehnaseeb" from Hasee Toh Phasee won Song of the Year award. The show was broadcast on 22 March 2015 on Zee TV.

The 11th Mirchi Music Awards, presented by Indian FM radio station Radio Mirchi, honoured the best music professionals of Hindi language Indian films of 2018. The ceremony was held at the Dome at the National Sports Club of India, Mumbai on 16 February 2019 and was hosted by Indian singer and actor Sonu Nigam. The event included live music performances by Badshah, Neha Kakkar, Meet Bros, Jonita Gandhi, Arko, Papon, Shivam Pathak, and Ashmik Patil, the winner of the Smule Mirchi Cover Star. A new award category, "Recreated Song of the Year," was introduced to recognize the many ‘re-creations’ released in 2018. Padmaavat won several awards including Album of the Year and Song of the Year for "Ghoomar." The show was broadcast on 17 March 2019 on Zee TV.
