Kees de Korver (born 9 July 1951) is a Dutch rower. He competed in the men's coxed four event at the 1972 Summer Olympics. [1]
Sohn Kee-chung was a Korean-Japanese Olympic athlete and long-distance runner. He became the first ethnic Korean to win a medal at the Olympic Games, winning gold in the marathon at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He was born in the Korean Peninsula, but he competed as a member of the Japanese delegation because Korea was under Japanese rule at the time. Sohn set an Olympic record of 2 hours 29 minutes 19.2 seconds.

Albert Richard "Whitey" Michelsen was an American long-distance runner who is recognized as having set a world's best in the marathon on October 12, 1925, with a time of 2:29:01 at the inaugural Port Chester Marathon in Port Chester, New York. According to the International Association of Athletics Federations, Michelsen held this record until Fusashige Suzuki posted a 2:27:49 performance in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 1935.
The 2002–03 Creighton Bluejays men's basketball team represented Creighton University during the 2002–03 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bluejays, led by head coach Dana Altman, played their home games at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. They finished with a school best 29-5 record. The Creighton Bluejays finished 2nd in the Missouri Valley Conference and won the conference tournament earning a bid to the 2003 NCAA tournament. The team featured All-American and repeat Missouri Valley Player of the Year Kyle Korver. Korver's sharpshooting earned him national accolades including Dick Vitale's National Mid-Season Player of the Year. Kyle Korver set the Creighton record for most three-pointers made in a game against Evansville with nine.

With helmsmen Fred Imhoff Korver took the 10th place in the Flying Dutchman. After the Munich massacre during the 1972 Summer Olympics Korver was in doubt if and how to continue. Jacques Stap, the course area coach, finally made him continue to finish the series. Korver was the substitute for the Flying Dutchman during the 1968 Olympics. He was born in Amsterdam.

The marathon at the Summer Olympics is the only road running event held at the multi-sport event.
