Keesja Gofers (born 16 March 1990) is an Australian water polo player. [1] [2]
Gofers won the silver medal at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, Spain, [3] and the bronze medal at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.
She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics [4] and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
In the 2020 Olympics, the Australian Stingers went through to the quarterfinals by finishing second in their pool. They were beaten 8-9 by Russia and therefore did not compete for an Olympic medal. [5]
Keesja Gofers is the sister of Australian Water Polo player Taniele Gofers and Australian Handball player Allira Hudson-Gofers.
Brenda Villa is an American accomplished water polo player. She is the most decorated athlete in the world of women’s water polo. Villa was named Female Water Polo Player of the Decade for 2000-2009 by the FINA Aquatics World Magazine. She is one of four female players who competed in water polo at four Olympics; and one of two female athletes who won four Olympic medals in water polo. She is a leading goalscorer in Olympic water polo history, with 31 goals. In 2018, she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame and the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame.
Péter Biros is a Hungarian former water polo player, who played on the gold medal squads at the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2004 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics, which makes him one of six male athletes who won three Olympic gold medals in water polo.
