Kelly T. Gee is an American public official serving as the secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2023. She was the executive director of the Virginia Lottery from 2022 to 2023. Gee served as the deputy chief of staff to Kirk Cox while he was speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates.
Gee earned an A.S. from the Richard Bland College in 2008. [1] She completed a B.A. in government from the College of William &Mary in 2010. [2] [1] She earned a M.A. in political science from Virginia Tech. [2]
Gee worked for eight years as a senior staff member to the Virginia General Assembly including as the deputy chief of staff to the 55th speaker of the House,Kirk Cox. [2] In 2018,she joined the Virginia Lottery as the manager of government relations. [2] In January 2022,she began serving as its acting executive director and was made permanent on June 6,2022 following her appointment by governor Glenn Youngkin. [3] [4] In August 2023,she was nominated by Youngkin as the secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia,succeeding Kay Coles James. [3] Gee began acting in the role on September 1. [3]

Richard Bland College (RBC) is a public junior college associated with the College of William &Mary and located in Prince George County,Virginia. Richard Bland College was established in 1960 by the Virginia General Assembly as a branch of the College of William and Mary under the umbrella of "the Colleges of William and Mary". The "Colleges" system lasted two years. Although the other three institutions such as Christopher Newport founded as colleges of William and Mary became independent colleges and later universities,Richard Bland has continued as a junior college of the College of William and Mary. Though under its own administration,Richard Bland College is governed by William and Mary's Board of Visitors. It was named after Virginia statesman Richard Bland who lived in Prince George County where the campus is located.

He served as the deputy administrator from April to July 2018,and served as the acting administrator from July 2018 to February 2019. He has been a senior advisor to Governor of Virginia Glenn Youngkin since March 2022. He previously worked in the law firm Faegre Baker Daniels,representing coal magnate Robert E. Murray and lobbying against the Obama Administration's environmental regulations. Wheeler served as chief counsel to the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and to the chairman U.S. senator James Inhofe,prominent for his rejection of climate change. Wheeler is a critic of limits on greenhouse gas emissions and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
United States gubernatorial elections were held on November 2,2021,in two states,New Jersey and Virginia,and a recall election was held in California on September 14. These elections form part of the 2021 United States elections. The last gubernatorial elections for New Jersey and Virginia were in 2017,and the last regular gubernatorial election for California was in 2018. Going into the elections,all three seats were held by Democrats.

Businessman Glenn Youngkin won the Republican nomination at the party's May 8 convention,which was held in 37 polling locations across the state,and was officially declared the nominee on May 10. The Democratic Party held its primary election on June 8,which former Governor Terry McAuliffe easily won.

State Senator Jennifer McClellan was declared the victor shortly after the polls closed,winning in a landslide against her Republican opponent.
