Kelsey Nichole Turner (born May 5, 1993) is an American murderer and former adult model. She has appeared in magazines such as Playboy , Maxim , and OneTen. [1]

In 2019, Turner and her ex-boyfriend were accused of killing a Salinas psychiatrist, Dr. Thomas Burchard. [2] She was arrested by FBI agents and Las Vegas police in Stockton, California, on March 21, 2019, and underwent a criminal trial for three years. [3] [4] [5] She eventually pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison in January 2023. [6] [7]

Early life

Turner was born on May 5, 1993, in Norfolk, Virginia, and grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Later, she started modeling for adult magazines. [8] [9] During her modeling days, she lived in Salinas, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. [10] [11] [12]

Murder of Dr. Thomas Burchard

Turner and her ex-boyfriend Jon "Logan" Kennison have been in custody since 2019 for the murder of Dr. Thomas Burchard, a child psychiatrist. [13] [14] They are accused of beating the 71 year old psychiatrist to death with a baseball bat and a gun, then stuffing his body into the trunk of Turner's Mercedes. [14] [15] [16] [17] [18]

Judy Earp, the victim's fiancé, claims that Burchard had given Turner around $750,000 to be his "sugar baby" over a period of several years. [19] Earp claims Burchard's last words to her were: "She's such a pervasive liar that I have to see for myself." [19]

Burchard's body was discovered in the trunk of Turner's vehicle, which had been abandoned on a desert road outside Las Vegas. [20]

Turner was arrested by FBI agents and Las Vegas police in Stockton, California, on March 21, 2019. [21] [22] [23] [24] Her trial lasted three years. [25] [26] In July 2022, in the wake of Kennison pleading guilty, she agreed to accept an Alford guilty plea. [25] On November 9, 2022, she signed the plea deal, despite maintaining her innocence. [27] [28] On January 10, 2023, she was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison. [28]

Kennison pleaded guilty in June 2022 to second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder. [29] He was sentenced to 18 to 45 years for his role in the murder. [30] A roommate of the couple, Diana Nicole Pena, pleaded guilty to being an accessory to murder and provided prosecutors with critical evidence. [30]

Turner is currently incarcerated at the Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center in Nevada. [31] [32]

Kelly Ann Ryan is an American known for being convicted of arson, and assault and battery with a deadly weapon, as an accessory to the December 14, 2005 murder of Melissa James. The young woman had been working as a personal assistant to Ryan and her husband Craig Titus at their home in Las Vegas.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Maywand District murders</span> Murders of Afghan civilians by U.S. Army soldiers from June 2009–June 2010

The Maywand District murders were the thrill killings of at least three Afghan civilians perpetrated by a group of U.S. Army soldiers from January to May 2010, during the War in Afghanistan. The soldiers, who referred to themselves as the "Kill Team", were members of the 3rd Platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, and 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. On September 7, 1996, at 11:15 p.m. (PDT), Tupac Shakur, a 25-year-old American rapper, was shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. The shooting occurred when the car carrying Shakur was stopped at a red light at East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane. The driver, Marion "Suge" Knight, was grazed by a bullet in the shooting. Shakur died from his injuries six days later, on September 13, 1996.

On August 20, 2016, a mass killing occurred in Citronelle, Alabama, United States, resulting in the deaths of five people, including a woman who was five months pregnant. They were killed in the early morning in a private residence in a rural area west of the city. It was owned by a brother of Laneta Lester, who had sought refuge there. She and her brother's infant were abducted and taken to Leakesville, Mississippi, by her estranged boyfriend, Derrick Dearman. He released her that day. Lester returned with the infant to Citronelle. She notified police of the killings. Investigators described this mass killing as the worst in Mobile County's history. The house burned down a couple of weeks after the crime.

Paulo Mendoza, a 31-year-old Mexican illegal immigrant, was arrested three days later. Prior to his arrest for the murder of Singh, Mendoza was found guilty of multiple offenses.

The 2019 Nevada killing spree was a series of murders in January 2019 in which an assailant broke into three homes in Douglas and Washoe Counties in northwestern Nevada, murdered the elderly inhabitants, and made off with valuables. Reports of the crimes terrified area residents for several days until a police manhunt identified and apprehended Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman. The sheriff's report states that Martinez-Guzman later confessed.

Norman Keith Flowers is an American serial killer who killed three women by beating and strangling them in their Las Vegas apartments from March to May 2005. DNA left at each crime scene eventually linked him to the killings and he was arrested. Flowers was tried in 2008 and convicted, receiving a life sentence without parole. He entered an alford plea for the remaining charges in 2011 and received two more life sentences.

Gretchen Stoughton Anthony was an American woman from Jupiter, Florida, who was murdered by her estranged husband, David Ethan Anthony, in the early morning hours of March 21, 2020. David Anthony had attempted to persuade Gretchen Anthony to travel with him to Costa Rica, where he believed they could escape the COVID-19 pandemic. When Gretchen declined, David entered her house in Abacoa, Florida, and stabbed her to death in her garage. He then discarded her body in a nearby wooded area before fleeing the state.

On October 26, 2016, Sydney Land and her boyfriend Nehemiah Kauffman were shot and killed in her apartment in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their bodies were found the next day. Initially, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced that they had no motive and no suspects in the case. Land's mother, Connie Land, asserted that Sydney had possibly been targeted for prostitution grooming by pimps.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Killing of Jonathan Lewis</span> 2023 killing in Las Vegas, Nevada

On November 1, 2023, Jonathan Edward Lewis Jr., a 17-year-old student at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S., was attacked by a mob of students at the school. Lewis had been standing up for a friend who was bullied by the students. He succumbed to injuries from the assault on November 7, 2023.
