The Kemptville 73's are a Canadian Junior "A" ice hockey team based in Kemptville, Ontario. They play in the Central Canada Hockey League of the Ottawa District Hockey Association.
The team was founded in 1969 as the Kemptville Comets, changing their name in 1973 to coincide with that year. [1]
In the 1996–97 season, the 73's achieved an undefeated season with a win–loss–tie record of 38-0-4 en route to the Eastern Ontario Junior B Hockey League championship. They repeated the championship victory in 1999. [1]
The team moved up from the Eastern Ontario Junior B Hockey League to the Central Junior A Hockey League in 2007. On September 14, 2007, the Kemptville 73's played their first ever Junior "A" hockey game. At home, the 73's took on the Nepean Raiders but lost the game 5–2. Anthony Scarpino scored the 73's first ever Junior "A" goal with forty-six seconds left in the first period. Alex Beaudry started the historic game in net.
On September 23, 2007, the 73's won their first ever Junior "A" hockey game by defeating the Kanata Stallions, at home, by a score of 4–2.
Currently, the team carries a member of the community who has been involved with the program since its inception in 1969. John Guy, a local legend, has been involved with the 73s as the equipment manager. John is known and loved by many in the community for his involvement and comical antics.
On April 8, 2008, Mark Nasca become the first 73 in history to commit to a Division I school when he signed with the Colgate University Raiders for the 2008–2009 season.
On December 23, 2008, Rob Capellupo was announced as head United States Scout for bringing in players. He was also announced as the teams physical and psychological doctor.
On June 26, 2009, Calvin de Haan was drafted 12th overall by the New York Islanders. de Haan is a former "73". [2]
On June 23, 2012, Vancouver Canucks drafted former 73 Ben Hutton 147th overall.
During the summer of 2017 the 73's changed ownership from Ron and Lisa Tugnutt to Jason York, Joe Jefferies and Paul LeBreux.

Ronald Frederick Bradley Tugnutt is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Tugnutt played several seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Quebec Nordiques, Edmonton Oilers, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Dallas Stars. While a member of the Nordiques on March 21, 1991, Tugnutt set a modern-day NHL record for most saves in a regular-season game when he stopped 70 of 73 shots in a 3–3 tie with the Boston Bruins.
The Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL); French: Ligue de hockey centrale du Canada (LHCC), is a Junior A ice hockey league in Eastern Canada consisting of 12 teams – all around the National Capital Region. The Bogart Cup is awarded annually to the league's playoff champion at the end of each season. The CCHL is one of the nine Junior A ice hockey leagues in Canada, and is headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Kingston Frontenacs are a Canadian major junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League, based in Kingston, Ontario. The Frontenacs play home games at Slush Puppie Place, which opened in 2008. The team's history predates the Ontario Hockey League, to a team known as the Kingston Victorias in 1945. This current Frontenacs franchise was founded in the Ontario Hockey Association in 1973–74, then known as the Kingston Canadians until 1987–88. The Nepean Raiders are a Junior ice hockey team from Nepean, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Central Canada Hockey League. The town of Nepean was granted expansion after the Cornwall Royals and the Hull Hawks left the CJHL for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Raiders started their operations in the Valley division of the Junior "B" League in 1966, switching over to the Central Junior Hockey League in 1972.
The Chatham Maroons are a junior ice hockey team based in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Western division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL). The Maroons were the 1970 Western Ontario Junior A Champions and 1973 Southern Ontario Junior A Champions. The Maroons have won multiple Junior B league titles and the 1999 Sutherland Cup as Ontario Hockey Association Junior B Champions. In the 2021-2022 season, the Maroons won the GOJHL Western Conference Championship 4-2 over the Leamington Flyers. The Maroons dedicated their Championship in honour of their longtime equipment manager and team volunteer, Randy DeWael, who died suddenly during the playoffs.

The Casselman Vikings are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team in Casselman, Ontario. The Vikings play in the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL). Between 2014-15 and the end of the 2019-2020 seasons, the EOJHL and the CCHL set a new agreement in an attempt to create a better player development model. This resulted in the league re-branding itself as the Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 (CCHL2), and shrinking to 16 teams and two divisions. The league reverted to the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League for 2021. Prior to 2015, their league was known as the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League of the Ottawa District Hockey Association. The Vikings have won the Carson Trophy three times and were the 2014 Don Johnson Memorial Cup Eastern Canadian Jr. B Champions.
