A longtime executive vice president at CNN, Jautz was responsible for the network's programming from 2010 to 2013, a period during which CNN commissioned its first non-fiction series from outside producers and received critical acclaim for its international reporting, including Peabody and Emmy awards for coverage of the Arab Spring of 2011. Prior to that he was responsible for HLN where he revamped and rebranded the network formerly known as CNN Headline News and created several shows featuring well-known hosts, including Morning Express with Robin Meade, Nancy Grace, and Joy Behar.

Jautz, a longtime CNN and Turner Broadcasting executive, has managed several networks, including HLN, CNNfn and n-tv, a German national news channel. He also managed the CNNfn network, and served as managing director of n-tv, the first 24-hour national news channel in Germany.

Biography

Jautz graduated from Cornell University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. [2]

Jautz was a local newspaper reporter and a foreign correspondent for The Associated Press before becoming CNN's bureau chief in Germany. Among the stories he covered for the network were the fall of the Berlin Wall and subsequent revolutions in East European countries; the 1991 Gulf War; the dissolution of the Soviet Union; and the break-up of Yugoslavia and resulting Balkan conflicts. From 1995 to 2000, Jautz worked for Turner Broadcasting Europe, first as a London-based business development executive helping launch news channels and programs in several European countries, then as the Berlin, Germany-based managing director of n-tv, which operated the first all-news television network in Germany. Jautz served as executive vice president of CNN's business news unit from 2001 to 2004, during which time he managed the CNNfn network, helped launch the CNNMoney website, and oversaw all business programming on CNN/U.S., including several award-winning weekday and weekend business programs.

In September 2010, he was named by Jim Walton, the president of CNN Worldwide, as president of CNN/U.S. programming replacing Jonathan Klein. [3] Scot Safon was named as his replacement. [4] He served until 2013. During his tenure, the network commissioned its first non-fiction series from outside producers and received critical acclaim for its commitment to international reporting, including a Peabody award and Emmy award for coverage of the Arab Spring in 2011. From 2005 to 2010, Jautz was responsible for HLN where he revamped and re-branded the network formerly known as CNN Headline News [5] and created a host of new shows that cumulatively posted record ratings for the network, including Morning Express with Robin Meade, Nancy Grace, Showbiz Tonight and Joy Behar.

Personal life

Personal Life: Jautz is married with two children. He and his wife, Kristin, live in New York City and New Hampshire. [2]

In the Arena is an American one-hour show on CNN that premiered October 4, 2010 as Parker Spitzer and was hosted by former New York Democratic governor Eliot Spitzer and Pulitzer Prize-winning political columnist Kathleen Parker. It was broadcast weeknights in prime time at 8 p.m. ET, replacing Campbell Brown in the same time slot. The show received consistently low ratings and there were reports of backstage fighting between Spitzer and Parker. On February 25, 2011, CNN announced that Parker had parted ways with the show to continue her work on her syndicated column but would continue to contribute to CNN. Spitzer remained on the show and the title was changed to In the Arena effective February 28. The show was canceled by CNN on July 6, 2011. The cancellation was effective August 8, 2011, when CNN went on to broadcast its flagship nightly news program AC360, anchored by Anderson Cooper, live at 8 pm and re-air in the time slot of 10 pm.
