Abbotsford is a city in British Columbia next to the Canada–United States border,Greater Vancouver and the Fraser River. With a census population of 153,569 people (2021),it is the largest municipality in the province outside metropolitan Vancouver. Abbotsford–Mission has the third-highest proportion of visible minorities among census metropolitan areas in Canada,after the Greater Toronto Area and the Greater Vancouver CMA. It is the westernmost portion of the main TCH to be numbered "Highway 1",which continues through Western Canada and extends to the Manitoba–Ontario boundary. Greater Vancouver,also known as Metro Vancouver,is the metropolitan area with its major urban centre being the city of Vancouver,British Columbia,Canada. Sharon L. Gaetz is a former mayor of the City of Chilliwack,British Columbia,Canada. She was first elected to that office in the 2008 election and served three consecutive terms. In 2018,she lost to incumbent city councillor Ken Popove whilst seeking a fourth term. She remains the only woman in the city's history elected to the office of mayor. She previously served twelve years as a city councillor,during which time she served as acting mayor. Mayor Gaetz also served as director of the Fraser Valley Regional District. The 2022 Vancouver municipal election was held on October 15,2022,the same day as the municipal elections held throughout British Columbia. Voters elected the mayor of Vancouver by first-past-the-post. Ten city councillors,7 park board commissioners,and 9 school board trustees were elected through plurality at-large voting. In addition,voters were presented with 3 capital plan questions.
