Kenedy Junior Corona (born March 21,2000) is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2025.
Corona signed with the New York Mets as an international free agent on April 6,2019. He split his first professional season between the Dominican Summer League Mets,rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets,and Low-A Brooklyn Cyclones. In 63 appearances split between the three affiliates,Corona batted .301/.398/.470 with five home runs,29 RBI,and 19 stolen bases. [1]
On December 6,2019,the Mets traded Corona and Blake Taylor to the Houston Astros in exchange for Jake Marisnick. [2] He did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. [3]
Corona played in the Arizona Fall League after the 2023 season. [4] On November 14,the Astros added Corona to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. [5] He was optioned to the Triple–A Sugar Land Space Cowboys to begin the 2024 season. [6] Corona made 98 appearances split between Corpus Christi and Sugar Land,batting a cumulative .214/.314/.290 with three home runs,29 RBI,and 27 stolen bases.
Corona was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land to begin the 2025 season, [7] with whom he batted .228/.315/.351 with six home runs,28 RBI,and eight stolen bases. On July 7,2025,Corona was promoted to the major leagues for the first time. [8]
