Kevin "Big Kev" McGowne (born 16 December 1969 in Kilmarnock) is a Scottish former professional footballer.

McGowne began his career as a defender at St Mirren F.C. in 1991. The next year, he joined St Johnstone F.C., where he spent four seasons before being signed to Kilmarnock F.C. by Alex Totten.

He spent six seasons with Kilmarnock, helping them to win the 1997 Scottish Cup over Falkirk F.C. He joined Dundee United F.C. for one season in 2002, making 12 league appearances.

In 2003, he spent a short amount of time with Partick Thistle F.C. before rejoining St Mirren. He helped St Mirren return to the Scottish Premier League by earning promotion in the 2005–06 season and to win the 2005 Scottish Challenge Cup final against Hamilton Academical F.C. [1] He left St Mirren in July 2007 after helping the club maintain their SPL status in the 2006–07 season.

He went on to join Montrose F.C. as an assistant manager to Jim Weir for the 2007–08 season. He moved with Weir to Arbroath F.C. for the 2009–10 season and went to Brechin City F.C. in May 2010.

St Mirren are competing in their fifth successive season in the Scottish Premier League after finishing in tenth place for season 2009–10. The most notable change at the club during the close season was the replacement of both manager Gus MacPherson and assistant manager Andy Millen after 7 seasons of managing the club. This was the longest period any manager had spent in charge of the club since the 1950s and at the time of MacPherson's sacking he was the longest serving manager of a Scottish League Club. They were replaced by the former Cowdenbeath management partnership of Danny Lennon and Iain Jenkins.

The 2010–11 season was Kilmarnock's twelfth consecutive season in the Scottish Premier League, having competed in it since its inauguration in 1998–99. Kilmarnock also competed in the Scottish Cup and the League Cup.

The 2018–19 season was the club's sixth season in the Scottish Premiership and their tenth consecutive season in the top flight of Scottish football. St Johnstone also competed in the Scottish Cup and the League Cup, where they were knocked out of both by Celtic.

The 2020–21 season was Hibernian's (Hibs) fourth season of play back in the top league of Scottish football, having been promoted from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2016–17 season. Hibs lost in the semi-finals of the League Cup to St Johnstone, and in the 2021 Scottish Cup Final to the same opponents. Hibs finished third in the Premiership, which was their highest league position since 2004–05.

The 2020–21 St Johnstone F.C. season was the club's eighth season in the Scottish Premiership and their eleventh consecutive season in the top flight of Scottish football. St Johnstone also competed in the Scottish Cup and the League Cup, winning both competitions. St Johnstone became only the fourth Scottish team, and only the second outwith the Old Firm, to win a Scottish cup double.

The 2020–21 season was the club's third consecutive season in the top tier of Scottish football since being promoted from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2017–18 season. St Mirren also competed in the League Cup and the Scottish Cup.
