Kevin Roberts (born 25 July 1972) is an Australian cricketer. [1] He played 23 first-class and 18 List A matches for New South Wales between 1994/95 and 1997/98. [2] In October 2018, he was named as the CEO of Cricket Australia, replacing James Sutherland. [3]

In June 2020, he resigned from his position of CEO, after immense media scrutiny following his response to the COVID-19 pandemic. [4] His decision to lay off 80 per cent of CA staff from 27 April 2020, was considered a key reason for his dismissal. [5] However former Australian cricketer Allan Border defended him by saying "Roberts is not alone responsible for the board's financial crisis". [6]

Sledging (cricket)

Sledging is a term used in cricket to describe a devious practice whereby some players seek to gain an advantage by deliberately insulting or verbally intimidating the opposing player. The purpose is to try to weaken the opponent's concentration, thereby causing them to underperform or be more prone to error. It can be effective because the batsman stands well within hearing range of the bowler and certain close fielders, and vice versa. The insults may be direct or may feature in conversations among fielders which are intended to be overheard by the batsman. The term has also been used in other sports, as when the tennis player Nick Kyrgios insulted his opponent, Stan Wawrinka, by referring to a purported encounter between another player and the latter's girlfriend.

Awarded during the Australian Cricket Awards, the Allan Border Medal is considered to be the most prestigious individual prize in Australian men's cricket. First awarded in 2000, the medal is named after former Australian men's captain Allan Border and recognises the most outstanding male Australian cricketer of the past season as voted by his peers, the media and umpires. Votes are cast after each game on a 3–2–1 basis, with a weighting applied to give both One Day International and Test players an equal chance of winning the award.

Robert George Holland was a New South Wales and Australian cricketer. He was, because of his surname, nicknamed "Dutchy".

2018 Australian ball-tampering scandal

The 2018 Australian ball-tampering scandal, also known as the Sandpapergate scandal, was a cricket cheating scandal surrounding the Australian national cricket team. In March 2018, during the third Test match against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town, Cameron Bancroft was caught by television cameras trying to rough up one side of the ball with sandpaper to make it swing in flight. Captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner were found to be involved and all three received unprecedented sanctions from Cricket Australia. Although he was found not to have been directly involved, Australia's coach, Darren Lehmann, announced he would step down from his role following the scandal. Smith was replaced by Tim Paine as captain in all formats before Aaron Finch took over from Paine in ODIs and T20Is.
