Key Lawrence (born February 18, 2001) is an American football cornerback for the Ole Miss Rebels. He previously played for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Early life and high school

Lawrence attended high school at Ensworth. Coming out of high school, Lawrence was rated as a four-star recruit where he held offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami Ohio State, and Tennessee. [1] Lawrence ultimately decided to commit to play college football for the Tennessee Volunteers. [2] [3]

College career

Tennessee

In Lawrence's first career season in 2020, he finished the year with eight tackles and a pass deflection. [4] After the conclusion of the 2020 season, Lawrence decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. [5] [6]

Oklahoma

Lawrence decided to transfer to play for the Oklahoma Sooners. [7] [8] In week eight of the 2021 season, Lawrence made his first career start versus Kansas State, where he made seven tackles with two being for a loss, and he forced a fumble. [9] In week eleven, Lawrence notched seven tackles and two pass deflection, as he helped the Sooners to a win over Texas Tech. [10] Lawrence finished the 2021 season with 47 tackles, four pass deflections, and three forced fumbles, where for his performance he was named an all Big-12 honorable mention. [11] During the 2022 season, Lawrence tallied 57 tackles five pass deflections, an interception and two forced fumbles. [12] Lawrence opened the 2023 season strong as in week two he forced a fumble, and then in week three he intercepted a pass. [13] In week four, Lawrence notched three tackles and an interception in a 20-6 win over Cincinnati. [14] During the 2023 season, Lawrence totaled 44 tackles, three pass deflections, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. [15] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Lawrence decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. [16] [17]
