Keyla Monterroso Mejia (born February 26, 1998) is an American actress and comedian who played Maria Sofia Estrada on Seasons 11 and 12 of HBO's sitcom series Curb Your Enthusiasm and Ashley Garcia in the second season of Abbott Elementary . [1]
Mejia was born in Hawthorne, California, in Los Angeles County on February 26, 1998. [2] Her parents were from Guatemala and Mexico. [3] She grew up in the Inland Empire region of California. [4]
Mejia played Val in Ann Marie Pace's 2021 short film Growing Fangs, one of a series of productions featured as part of the Disney+ Launchpad series. [5] The same year, she made her television debut as a guest star on season 11 of Curb Your Enthusiasm, playing short order cook turned terrible actress Maria Sofia Estrada. [3] Originally cast for one episode, she went on to appear in six of the season's ten episodes. [3] She would guest star again in season 12, where her character has become a popular actress. [2]
In 2021, Mejia also starred in the final episode of On My Block . [6] It was later announced she would appear in the spinoff series, Freeridge , alongside Bryana Salaz, Ciara Riley Wilson, and Tenzing Norgay Trainor. [7]

It also marks the return of Angélica Aragón to the television screen after 8 years of abstinence, since El Regreso, Juan David Burns as producer, and Raul Quintanilla as director. It was originally planned to air on Azteca 7, but was changed to Azteca 13, replacing Emperatriz, on 9 November 2011. It was filmed in Colombia for eight months, from February to October 2011. In December 2011, Azteca 13 executives extended the novela for another 58 episodes, making a total of 138 episodes. 2012 episodes are filmed in Mexico, instead of Colombia. Elisa Salinas replaced her husband, Juan David Burns, as the producer in the second season. Filming of the second season ended on 17 April. Due to successful public reception, the producers plans for another season. The executives of Azteca discussed with Disney Media Networks for a third season, but later cancelled the idea.
