Production

On September 27, 2021, a spin-off of On My Block , titled as Freeridge was ordered to series by Netflix. It is created and executive produced by Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft, Jamie Dooner, and Jamie Uyeshiro. ^[1] On October 8, 2021, Bryana Salaz, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Ciara Riley Wilson, and Shiv Pai were cast to star. ^[4] On November 4, 2022, Tenzing Norgay Trainor and Peggy Blow joined the cast in undisclosed capacities. ^[5] The series was filmed from May 9 to July 5, 2022, in Los Angeles. ^[6] On December 16, 2022, it was reported that Michael Solomon was cast to star and Trainor is part of the starring cast. The series was released on February 2, 2023. ^[2] On April 12, 2023, it was reported that the series was canceled after one season. ^[3]

Reception

The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported an 80% approval rating with an average rating of 6.8/10, based on 10 critic reviews. ^[7] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 77 out of 100 based on 4 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". ^[8]
