North West is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Mahikeng. The province is located to the west of the major population centre of Gauteng and south of Botswana.

A member of the African National Congress,she has been the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Arts,Culture and Recreation since November 2022 and a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature since May 2019. Previously,she had served as the MEC for Economic Development,Environment,Conservation and Tourism from May 2019 to November 2022. Mosenogi also served as the deputy secretary-general of the African National Congress Youth League from 2011 until 2013.

Mzikayifane Elias Khumalo is a South African African National Congress politician who has been the Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs,eGovernment and Research and Development since 2022 and a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since 2019. He served as the chief whip of majority party in the provincial legislature from May 2019 until October 2022. Previously,he served as the Executive Mayor of the Randfontein Local Municipality from 2015 to 2016 and as the Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality from 2016 to 2019.
Matthews Johannes Wolmarans is a South African politician who has been a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2019. A member of the African National Congress,he previously served in the assembly between 2017 and 2019. Wolmarans is also a former mayor of the Rustenburg Local Municipality.
Mpho Louisa Phalatse is a South African medical doctor and politician who was the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. A member of the Democratic Alliance,she has served in the position from 22 November 2021 until her ousting in a motion of no-confidence on 26 January 2023. She is the first woman to serve as mayor of the metropolitan municipality,which was established in 2000. She is the first black woman to serve as mayor of the city of Johannesburg and only the second female mayor of the city after Jessie McPherson,who served from 1945 to 1946.
The JB Marks Local Municipality council consists of sixty-seven members elected by mixed-member proportional representation. Thirty-four councillors are elected by first-past-the-post voting in thirty-four wards,while the remaining thirty-three are chosen from party lists so that the total number of party representatives is proportional to the number of votes received. In the election of 1 November 2021 the African National Congress (ANC) narrowly lost their majority,winning thirty-three seats.
Matshidiso Morwa Annastinah Mfikoe is a South African politician who has served as a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since February 2023. A member of the African National Congress,she previously served as a member of the National Assembly from October 2022 to January 2023 and before that,as a councillor in the City of Johannesburg from 2000 to 2022 and as a member of the mayoral committee from 2006 to 2016 and again in 2021.
Dakota Legoete is a South African politician and strategist,known for his work for the African National Congress (ANC). A former local councillor in his home province,the North West,Legoete was the North West ANC's Provincial Secretary from 2013 to 2017,serving under his ally Supra Mahumapelo. In early 2018 he was appointed the deputy head of the ANC's internal organising department,a full-time job based out of the party's headquarters at Luthuli House. In 2022,he was elected to his second successive five-year term on the ANC National Executive Committee.
Ndleleni Moses Duma was a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West Provincial Legislature until his death in 2018. He also served in the National Assembly between 2009 and 2014. He was a Member of the North West Executive Council from 2004 to 2009 during the premiership of Edna Molewa;during the same period,he was convicted on theft charges in connection with his involvement in the Travelgate scandal during an earlier period of service in the national Parliament.
Mpho Morepye Sephwe Lekgoro is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2007. He was formerly an ANC Youth League activist.
