Sampath Kumar, known by his stage name Vishnuvardhan, was an Indian actor who worked predominantly in Kannada cinema besides also having sporadically appeared in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam language films. Vishnuvardhan has a prolific career spanning over four decades, during which he has acted in more than 220 films. A popular cultural icon of Karnataka, and holds the status of a matinée idol among the Kannada diaspora. He is popularly called as Sahasa Simha, Dada and The Angry Young Man of Kannada Cinema. Vishnuvardhan's contributions to Kannada cinema have been praised by his contemporaries in the Indian film industry. The Government of Karnataka honoured him with the Rajyothsava Prashasthi in 1990 and the Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for his contributions to Kannada cinema. He was called The Phoenix of Indian Cinema. In 2008, a poll conducted by CNN-IBN listed Vishnuvardhan as the most popular star in the Kannada film industry.
Khaidi (transl. Prisoner) is a 1983 Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy and starring Chiranjeevi and Madhavi. Released on 28 October 1983, Khaidi was a major commercial success, marking a pivotal moment in Chiranjeevi's career and establishing him as a leading star in Telugu cinema. In 1984, it was remade in Hindi as Qaidi, and in Kannada under the same title, with Madhavi reprising her role both times.
Veta (transl. Hunt) is a 1986 Indian Telugu-language period action film directed by Kondandarami Reddy starring Chiranjeevi, Jaya Prada and Sumalatha. The film was based on Alexandre Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Cristo and was produced by Samyuktha Movies, the same banner behind the blockbuster Khaidi (1983). Veta reunited the successful Khaidi team of director A. Kodandarami Reddy, composer K. Chakravarthy, and the writers Paruchuri brothers. The film released on 28 May 1986 and ended up as a disaster at the box office.

Aarathi as expected has the meatiest role and delivers yet another power-packed performance. Despite a good-looking hero, top notch actresses and beautiful outdoor locales, Phalitamsha remains one of the few flops of ace director Puttana Kanagal's career. The negatives of the movie were lost in fire. The movie was dubbed in Telugu in 1977 as Nannu Preminchu.
Khaidi Kannayya is a 1962 Indian Telugu-language crime film directed by B. Vittalacharya and produced by Pothina Doondeswara Rao. It is a remake of the Hindi film Qaidi No. 911 (1959) and its Tamil version Kaithi Kannayiram (1960). The film stars Kanta Rao, Rajanala, Gummadi, Relangi, Rajasulochana and Girija. It was released on 1 March 1962, and became a success.
Chattaniki Veyi Kallu is a 1983 Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed by Vijaya Nirmala starring Krishna Ghattamaneni, Jayasudha, Madhavi and Rao Gopala Rao. Krishna enacted dual roles of Pratap and Anand.

Trivikrama Rao for Vijaya Lakshmi Art Pictures. The film stars Krishna in the title role alongside Sridevi and Sarada with Rao Gopala Rao enacting the main antagonist. The film was recorded as a superhit at the box office.
