Khalia Collier is the owner of the St. Louis Surge, and commissioner of its league the Global Women's Basketball Association (GWBA). [1] Collier formerly served as the associate director at the Saint Louis University Chaifetz School of Business. [2] In October 2020, she became Vice President of Community Relations for the Saint Louis Soccer Club [3]

Life and career

Collier was born and raised in St. Louis. [4] Collier played for Fort Zumwalt South High School and college basketball at Columbia College and Missouri Baptist University. [4] [5] Graduating with a degree in communications, Collier went on to work for a Fortune 500 company, but quickly returned to basketball, purchasing the Surge in 2011. [6] As a member of the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League, the Surge won two championships under Collier's direction. [7] As of 2019, the Surge have moved to the GWBA, where Collier also serves as the league's commissioner. [8] [1] The Surge play home games at the Washington University in St. Louis Field House. [9]

She is also an annual "SMWW Basketball Career Conference" speaker for the online sports-career training school Sports Management Worldwide, founded and run by Dr. Lynn Lashbrook.

Niele Deirdre Jamillah Viveca Ivey is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's basketball team. She is a former Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) player for the Indiana Fever, Detroit Shock, and Phoenix Mercury. Prior to her move to the NBA in August 2019, she was an assistant coach for the University of Notre Dame women's basketball team, where she had played in college. She was an All-American point guard and became the 17th player in school history to record over 1,000 career points. She received the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award presented for the nation's top player under 5'8" in 2001. Napheesa Collier is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and Fenerbahçe of the Women's Basketball Super League, Euroleague Women. After playing college basketball for the University of Connecticut Huskies, Collier was drafted by the Lynx with the 6th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA draft. She participated in the 2020 Summer Olympics games in Tokyo as part of the United States Women's Basketball team that won the Gold Medal.

The league was founded in 2016 and features four teams. GWBA rosters are composed primarily of former collegiate players, often playing for the team nearest their former school, and former WNBA players.

Linda Marie Wells is a former American softball coach. She previously served as the head coach for the Minnesota Golden Gophers softball and Arizona State Sun Devils softball teams.

Justin Tatum is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the Illawarra Hawks of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for the Saint Louis Billikens between 1998 and 2001 before having a two-year playing career in the Netherlands with Aris Leeuwarden between 2003 and 2005. Between 2007 and 2023, he had a 16-year high school coaching career in Missouri, winning three state championships. He moved to Australia in 2023 where he became head coach of the Illawarra Hawks.
