Khoshnur Alamgir is a Bangladeshi lyricist, poet and novelist. She has written lyrics in films like Dayi Ke? (1987), Goriber Bou (1990), Banglar Bodhu (1993) etc. [1] [ failed verification ]

Early life

Khoshnur was born to popular writer Jobaida Khatun (1923-2016). So from very young age, she started writing poems.[ citation needed ]

Career

Khoshnur started her career as a poet. While studying in class five, she started her poetic career upon writing in newspapers and magazines like 'Daily Ittefaq', 'Daily Bangla' and 'Sampan'. Later, she started writing songs for films. She was given the first break by composer Alam Khan in the film Jhumka (1981). She penned the song "Bicharpotir Bichar Hobe", which was sung by Sabina Yasmin and Syed Abdul Hadi. The song became popular and there was no looking back for her. In 1989, she wrote three hit songs in Khotipuron film – " Ei Duti Chhotto Haat", "Ei Poth Choli Eka" and "E Je Darun Jaala", the latter was sung by Runa Laila and the other two songs were sung by Andrew Kishore. She went on to write more than 500 songs in various films. [2] Apart from films, she has written songs for albums. She has written around 25 songs that were sung by her daughter Akhi Alamgir. She wrote the title song of Akhi's studio Album Tomar Kachhe, composed by Shawkat Ali Emon. [3]

As a writer, she has written more than 55 books in child literature, poetry and novels. [2] She founded a national organisation of poets named Anupras. [2] In 1993, director Sohanur Rahman Sohan was in search of a fresh actor for his upcoming film Keyamat Theke Keyamat , lyricist Khoshnur recommended little-known model Salman Shah to him. After the film's release, Salman Shah became a star. [4]

Personal life

Khoshnur married Alamgir in 1973. They have a daughter, Akhi Alamgir who was born on 19 January 1974. Akhi Alamgir is a prominent singer and earned National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2018. Alamgir and Khoshnur divorced in 1999 and he went on to marry singer Runa Laila that year. Chowdhury Muhammad Shahriar Emon, known by his stage name Salman Shah, was a Bangladeshi film and television actor and model. Referred in the media as the "Prince of Bangladeshi Cinema", "Hero of Heroes" and the "First Superstar of Modern Dhallywood", he is commonly regarded as one of the most talented, popular, influential and iconic figures in Bangladesh's film history. Shah appeared in 27 films in a short acting career of three years, many of which were successful. Nashad was a film composer and music director of Indian and Pakistani film industry. He composed music for Hindi films in the 1940s and 1950s, credited on-screen under the names Nashad and then later migrated to Pakistan in 1964.

Niyoti is a 2016 Indo-Bangladeshi romantic action drama film written by Abdullah Zahir Babu and directed by Jakir Hossain Raju. Produced by Abdul Aziz under the Jaaz Multimedia banner, the film stars Arifin Shuvoo and Falguni Rahman Jolly in pivotal roles. The film is also co-produced by Ashok Dhanuka under the banner of Indian production house Eskay Movies. The film is set in two different period of time. Shuvoo plays an arrogant millionaire entrepreneur and strict by nature, who eventually falls in love with a girl who possess a totally opposite personality, played by Jolly. The film centers around the struggle Shuvo faces to cure the love of his life, Jolly, who suffers from dementia, a long-term memory loss. Niyoti released in India on 10 June 2016 and Bangladesh in August 2016.

Goriber Bou is a 1990 Bangladeshi social-drama film directed by Kamal Ahmed. Renowned film actress Shabana produced the film her own banner S.S. Productions. The film stars Alamgir, Shabana, Manna, Aruna Biswas leading role and more.

Banglar Bodhu is a 1993 Bangladeshi film starring Alamgir and Shabana opposite him. A. J. Mintu garnered Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director.

Amir Hossain Babu was a Bangladeshi dancer and choreographer. He earned Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Choreography a record two times for his performance in the films Beporoya (1992) and Meghla Akash (2001).

Mahanayak is a 1985 drama film written and directed by Alamgir Kabir. The film is based on the love story of an unemployed youth. Bulbul Ahmed played the main character. Other characters include Kajori, Julia, Rina Khan, Shawkat Akbar, Ahmed Sharif and others.
