Syed Abdul Hadi (born 1 July 1940) [1] is a Bangladeshi singer. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer five times for his playback performance in the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1979), Sundori (1979), Koshai (1980), Goriber Bou (1990) and Khoma (1992). [2] He is the recipient of Ekushey Padak in 2000. [3] [4]

Early life and background

Hadi was born at Shahpur village in Kasba, Brahmanbaria in the-then British India. [5] He grew up in Agartala, at his grandfather's house, who was a lawyer of the Agartala court. [6] He graduated from Dhaka College and the University of Dhaka. [6]

Career

Hadi debuted as a singer for the film Ye Bhi Ek Kahani (1964). [6]

Jonmo Theke Jolchi is a 1981 Bangladeshi film starring Bulbul Ahmed, Bobita and Anwara. It received Bachsas Awards in 3 categories that year.

Swami Stree is a 1987 Bangladeshi film starring Razzak, Shabana, Alamgir and Parvin Sultana Diti in lead roles. The latter earned Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress that year. Subhash Dutta directed the film.

Md. Khurshid Alam is a Bangladeshi playback singer. His notable songs include Chumki Choleche Eka Pothe, Bondi Pakhir Moto, Maa Go Maa, Miss Lanka, Ajke Na Hoi Bhalobasho, Dheere Dheere Chol Ghora, Chupi Chupi Bolo Keu Jeney Jabe and Jodi Bou Shajo Go. His career has spanned more than four decades, in which he sang over 300 songs. He was conferred the Ekushey Padak from the Government of Bangladesh in 2018 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Channel i Music Awards (2017) for his contribution to Bangladeshi film music. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Gaan e Gaan e Gunijon Shongbordhona, by Citibank NA in 2019.
