Olukayode Odesanya, better known as Kida Kudz, [1] [2] is a Nigerian Afropop singer based in the U.K. [3] He gained recognition after winning the second edition of the Peak Talent Show in 2010. [4] [5] He has collaborated with Ms Banks, Burna Boy, and Octavian, among others. [6] [7]

Early life

He left Nigeria and travelled to the U.K. at the age of 14 to live with his father and step-mother. Kudz found himself fascinated with already established genres in the country, such as grime, U.K. rap and even a touch of chessy pop. [3]

Music career

In 24 June 2022, Kida Kudz released a four track extended play titled World Citizens with Mr Dutch. [8] [9] [10] Rocket Launcher is a track in World Citizens that rides on Afro swing tendencies as it smoothly blends elements of U.K. and Nigerian Afobreats. [11] In 2021, Kida Kudz featured Bella Shmurda in single "Ball Until We Fall". [12]

He records in Yoruba and English. In 2011, he released his debut studio album Rapsodi while signed to Coded Tunes. Thyra Kigho Deshaun Oji, better known by her stage name Ms Banks, is a Nigerian-British rapper, singer and songwriter. Oji has released three mixtapes as Ms Banks. In 2014, she released her first mixtape titled Once Upon a Grind. She then released her first EP titled New Chapter EP in 2016. The Coldest Winter Ever was released in 2018, followed by The Coldest Winter Ever Part II in 2019. In 2023 she appeared alongside Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra as part of the opening act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 hosted in Liverpool.

Bright Ukpabi, known professionally as Mr Dutch is a Nigerian Afro-Pop singer/songwriter and Performing artist. He is known for establishing Dutch Dreams Records a community based Record Label. He has collaborated with Burna Boy, Kida Kudz, and Reekado Banks among many others.
