John Edward Walsh, Jr. is an American television presenter, criminologist, victims' rights activist, and the host/creator of America's Most Wanted. He is known for his anti-crime activism, with which he became involved following the murder of his son, Adam, in 1981; in 2008, deceased serial killer Ottis Toole was officially named as Adam's killer. Walsh was part-owner of the now defunct National Museum of Crime and Punishment in Washington, D.C. He also anchored an investigative documentary series, The Hunt with John Walsh, which debuted on CNN in 2014.

Criminal Minds is an American police procedural crime drama television series created and produced by Jeff Davis and Erica Messer that premiered on CBS on September 22, 2005. The Servant Girl Annihilator, also known as the Midnight Assassin, was an unidentified American serial killer who preyed upon the city of Austin, Texas, in 1884 and 1885. The sobriquet originated with the writer O. Henry. The series of eight axe murders were referred to by contemporary sources as the Servant Girl Murders.

Runaway is an American drama television series that aired on The CW from September 25, 2006, to October 15, 2006. Scarlett is a 1994 American six-hour television miniseries loosely based on the 1991 book of the same name written by Alexandra Ripley as a sequel to Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel Gone with the Wind. The series was filmed at 53 locations in the United States and abroad, and stars Joanne Whalley-Kilmer as Scarlett O'Hara, Timothy Dalton as Rhett Butler, and Sean Bean as Lord Richard Fenton. Stacey Ruth Castor was an American convicted murderer from Weedsport, New York. In 2009, she was found guilty of murdering her then-husband David Castor with antifreeze in 2005 and attempting to murder her daughter, Ashley Wallace, by spiking her drinks with pills in 2007. In addition, she was suspected of having murdered her first husband, Michael Wallace, in 2000; his grave lay next to David's until the latter's remains were disinterred and buried elsewhere in 2016. The story made national news, and Castor was subsequently named the "Black Widow" by media outlets.
Sandra Lee "Sandee" Rozzo was a Pinellas Park, Florida, bartender who was shot to death in her driveway on July 5, 2003. Her abuser, Timothy "Tracey" Humphrey, and his wife Ashley Laney Humphrey, were convicted of her murder.

The Walls Around Us is a 2015 young adult novel by Nova Ren Suma, which became the number one best selling for 2015 according to The New York Times. First published in March 2015 through Algonquin Young Readers, it centers on three young women, two of whom are held in a prison accused of separate murders, and a third that is tied to both accused murderers. A paperback edition of the book was released in March, 2016.
Slasher is a horror anthology television series created by Aaron Martin. It premiered on Chiller on March 4, 2016, and on Super Channel on April 1, 2016. The licensing rights for the second season were acquired by Netflix in January 2017. The second season was released on October 17, 2017. On August 8, 2018, the series was renewed for a third season, which premiered on May 23, 2019. An eight-episode fourth season was ordered for Shudder, premiering on August 12, 2021. Jorge Torres Jr., a 42-year-old American man, suffocated to death on February 24, 2020, in Winter Park, Florida after being zipped into a suitcase. Jorge's height was 5 ft 2 in (1.57 m) and he weighed 103 pounds (47 kg).
Three members of the Caffey family were murdered in their house in Alba, Texas, on March 1, 2008. Erin Caffey, then 16, organized the murder of her mother Penny Caffey and younger brothers Matthew and Tyler. Her father Terry was the only survivor, after being shot five times. The murders were committed by Erin's then-boyfriend Charlie Wilkinson and his friend Charles Waid, with Waid's girlfriend Bobbi Johnson acting as a getaway driver. Erin and Wilkinson planned the murder for a month, after Erin's parents' disapproval of the relationship. The crime gained notoriety for its violent nature, with one of Erin's brothers being stabbed repeatedly and her mother almost decapitated.
