Kilmisha (born 2009) is a Sri Lankan playback singer from Jaffna, Sri Lanka. She sings songs in the Sinhala and Tamil languages. In 2023, she appeared in the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Tamil Li'l Champs season 3 , where she was the winner. [4] [5]

Early life

Kilmisha was born in the city of Jaffna in 2010. She had started learning music at the age of 4 from her singing teachers. [9] [10]

Career

In 2023 she took part in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Tamil Li'l Champs season 3 where she was mentored and judged by Srinivas, Abhirami, Vijay Prakash and Saindhavi She was later declared the winner of the show also making history as the first foreigner and Sri Lankan to win Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs . After her victory, she took a selfie with Sri Lankan president Ranil Wickremesinghe which went viral on Instagram. [13] [14]

Tens of thousands of people have been disappeared in Sri Lanka since the 1980s. A 1999 study by the United Nations found that Sri Lanka had the second highest number of disappearances in the world and that 12,000 Sri Lankans had disappeared after being detained by the Sri Lankan security forces. Srinivasan Doraiswamy, known by his stage name Srinivas, is an Indian playback singer in the Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi music industries. Credited to 3000 songs, he is also a music composer, working on projects including films, jingles, albums, television serials, and devotional albums. He received the Kalaimamani award by the Tamil Nadu state government in 2005 and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award twice for the songs "Minsara Poove" (Padayappa) in 1999 and "Maargazhiyil" in 2008. Vijayakala Maheswaran, MP is a Sri Lankan Tamil politician. A Member of Parliament from the Jaffna District, she is the former State Minister for Education and is a former State Minister of Child Affairs and Deputy Minister of Women's Affairs. She lost her seat in the parliament in 2020 general election.

The inauguration of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the 8th executive president of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka took place on Thursday, 21 July 2022. This officially marked the beginning of Wickremesinghe's term in office, which will conclude in November 2024.
