Kim Chang-sop (Korean :김창섭;January 2,1946 –June 9,2020) was a North Korean politician who served as the Vice minister of the Ministry of State Security.
Kim Chang-sop was born on January 2,1946,in the Unsan County in South Pyongan Province. He joined the Korean People's Army in July 1963. [1] He was a graduate of the Kim Il-sung Higher Party School.
He was the vice minister of the State Security Department and was the head of the Political Department of that agency. He has also been the deputy of the Supreme People's Assembly since the 11th convocation in September 2003.
During the 3rd Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea on September 28,2010,he was elected as an alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee,and also for the first time sat in the Central Committee itself.
Following the death of Kim Jong-il in December 2011,Kim Chang-sop was ranked 26th in the 232-member Mourning Committee. [2] [3]
Kim Chang Sop died in June 2020. His death was announced by the Korean Central News Agency. [4]

The death of Kim Jong Il was reported by North Korean state television news on 19 December 2011. The presenter Ri Chun-hee announced that he had died on 17 December at 8:30 am of a massive heart attack while travelling by train to an area outside Pyongyang. Reportedly,he had received medical treatment for cardiac and cerebrovascular diseases,and during the trip,Kim was said to have had an "advanced acute myocardial infarction,complicated with a serious heart shock". However,it was reported in December 2012 by South Korean media that the heart attack had instead occurred in a fit of rage over construction faults in a crucial power plant project at Huichon in Chagang Province.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il also attended the meeting. A plenary meeting of the Central Auditing Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the September 2010 plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea were held earlier on the same day.

He is also a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Workers’Party of Korea. He served as Commander of the 5th Corps and Commander of the 7th Corps.
