Kirby Fabien (born September 10, 1990) is a former professional Canadian football offensive lineman and is the offensive line coach for the UBC Thunderbirds football team of U Sports.

University career

Fabien played CIS football for the Calgary Dinos from 2008 to 2012. [1]

Professional career

BC Lions

After the 2011 CIS season, he was ranked as the 15th best player in the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings for players eligible in the 2012 CFL Draft, and ninth by players in Canadian Interuniversity Sport. [2] He was selected seventh overall by the BC Lions in the 2012 CFL Draft, but on May 28, 2012, the Calgary Dinos announced that he would be returning to play another year with them. [3] He signed with the Lions during the following off-season on May 27, 2013. [4] He spent five years with the Lions and played in 77 regular season games before becoming a free agent in 2018.

Montreal Alouettes

After remaining unsigned for over three months, Fabien signed with the Montreal Alouettes on May 24, 2018. [5] He played in five games before being released on July 25, 2018. [6]

Coaching career

In 2021, Fabien was hired by his old coach, Blake Nill, to serve as the offensive line coach for the UBC Thunderbirds. [7]

Steven Yamukeka Jr. Lumbala is a retired Canadian football running back who played for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. After the 2012 CIS season, he was ranked as the 13th best player in the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau December rankings for players eligible in the 2013 CFL Draft and sixth by players in Canadian Interuniversity Sport. Lumbala was drafted in the first round, fifth overall by the Alouettes and signed with the team on May 27, 2013. He played CIS football for the Calgary Dinos. He retired in April 2015 to take an average-paying job in the oil and gas industry. In 2020, Lumbala obtained his Juris Doctor from Université de Moncton Faculty of Law.

Jordan David Verdone is a professional Canadian football linebacker who played forfour seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL), most recently for the Ottawa Redblacks. He was drafted in the fifth round, 37th overall by the BC Lions in the 2012 CFL Draft and after returning to school that year, he signed with the Montreal Alouettes for the 2013 season and made their opening day roster. He played CIS football for the Calgary Dinos in 2011 and 2012 following a two-year stint with the Waterloo Warriors.

UBC Thunderbirds football University Canadian football team

The UBC Thunderbirds football team represents the University of British Columbia athletics teams in U Sports and is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The program has won the CWUAA Hardy Trophy conference championship 16 times, which is third all-time among competing teams. On a national level, the team has won the Vanier Cup championship four times, in 1982, 1986, 1997 and, most recently, in 2015. The team has also lost twice in the title game, in 1978 and 1987. The Thunderbirds program has also yielded three Hec Crighton Trophy winners: Jordan Gagner in 1987, Mark Nohra in 1997, and, most recently, Billy Greene in 2011.
