Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. American colleges and universities may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations. The AP curriculum for each of the various subjects is created for the College Board by a panel of experts and college-level educators in that field of study. For a high school course to have the designation, the course must be audited by the College Board to ascertain that it satisfies the AP curriculum as specified in the Board's Course and Examination Description (CED). If the course is approved, the school may use the AP designation and the course will be publicly listed on the AP Course Ledger.
The Academy for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering (AMSE) is a four-year magnet public high school program intended to prepare students for STEM careers. Housed on the campus of Morris Hills High School in Rockaway in Morris County, New Jersey, United States, it is a joint endeavor between the Morris County School of Technology and the Morris Hills Regional District. It is one of 17 vocational academies under the Morris County Vocational School District. The District is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools.
Queen Elizabeth High School (QEHS) is a Canadian public combined junior and senior high school in Calgary, Alberta, which teaches grades 7 through 12. School Year Abroad (SYA) places American high school sophomores, juniors and seniors in one of four independently operated schools in Italy, France or Spain for a full academic year. Requirements for earning the diploma vary by jurisdiction, and there may be different requirements for different streams or levels of high school graduation. Typically they include a combination of selected coursework meeting specified criteria for a particular stream and acceptable passing grades earned on the state exit examination.
