Kirsten Pieroth (born October 1970 in Offenbach) is a German artist. Pieroth currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
Pieroth works primarily in sculpture and on paper and is known for her unconventional approach to the materials and ideas she works with. [1] Her work focuses on questions of identity and the dynamics of the human condition, and is frequently related to questions of consumer culture in modern-day society. [2] One of her earliest works, Berliner Pfütze, consisted of collecting and relocating the water of a Berlin street puddle. The piece was presented at the first edition of the Tirana Biennial in 2001, for which Pieroth poured the collected puddle waters onto the floor of the exhibition space of the National Museum of Fine Arts. [3] In 2020, the artist participated in Down To Earth, an exhibition held at the Martin-Gropius-Bau and organised by the Berliner Festspiele, with the work Neuköllner Pfütze. [4] In 2003 and 2004 Pieroth staged several solo exhibitions based on the American inventor Thomas Edison's legacy of myth-making, at Klosterfelde Gallery, Berlin, and in institutions such as Portikus, in Frankfurt am Main, and at Vancouver's Contemporary Art Gallery. [5] [6] More recently, Pieroth has been working with large-scale series of newspaper-based prints entitled Abrasives (2017 – ongoing), in which she prints the gestural marks of bodily actions such as kneeling or knocking, and everyday consumer items (described by the artist as 'modern devotional devices') onto the paper by way of frenzied applications of black paint, leaving multilayered renditions of the objects. Pieroth's work has been shown in numerous international group exhibitions and biennials, including SculptureCenter, New York (2013), the 30th São Paulo Art Biennial (2012), the 12th Istanbul Biennial (2011), Tate Modern, London (2007) and Manifesta 5 in San Sebastian (2004). Solo presentations of the artist have been held at The Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin (2020), Mathew Gallery, New York (2018), Kunstverein Nürnberg (2013), Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (2010), Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San Francisco (2008) and Secession, Vienna (2005), amongst others. Huma Bhabha is a Pakistani-American sculptor based in Poughkeepsie, New York. Known for her uniquely grotesque, figurative forms that often appear dissected or dismembered, Bhabha often uses found materials in her sculptures, including styrofoam, cork, rubber, paper, wire, and clay. She occasionally incorporates objects given to her by other people into her artwork. Many of these sculptures are also cast in bronze. She is equally prolific in her works on paper, creating vivid pastel drawings, eerie photographic collages, and haunting print editions.

Chakaia Booker is an American sculptor known for creating monumental, abstract works for both the gallery and outdoor public spaces. Booker’s works are contained in more than 40 public collections and have been exhibited across the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Booker was included in the 2000 Whitney Biennial, received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2005, and an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award for Art in 2001. Booker has lived and worked in New York City’s East Village since the early 1980s and maintains a production studio in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Paul Sietsema is a Los Angeles-based American artist who works primarily in film, painting and drawing. His work addresses the production, consumption, and proliferation of cultural objects, reflecting his interest in the possibility of an artwork to mediate information or meaning in a way that engages with the aesthetics of a specific time period. In the words of Sarah Robayo Sheridan, “Paul Sietsema compounds organic and artificial detritus in all his artwork, scavenging in history’s wake to identify specific tools of cultural production and foraging for concepts of art promulgated in the words of artists and attitudes of critics. He mines film as a vestige, the medium of the mechanical age, pressing and squeezing its very obsolescence through a contemporary sieve. In so doing, the artist hovers in the switchover between a bodily inscription in the image and a fundamental reconstitution of sight and representation in the matrix of the virtual. Where body stops and image starts is a divide collapsing through a series of innovations and accidents that go back as far as the people of Pompeii trapped in an emulsion that marked their death, but which paradoxically carried forward their image into eternity.”

Yale Union was a non-profit contemporary art center in southeast Portland, Oregon, United States. It was located in the Yale Union Laundry Building built in 1908. The center was founded in 2008. In 2020, the organization announced it would transfer the rights of its building to the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation (NACF). It dissolved the non-profit after wrapping up its program in 2021 and completing the building and land transfer. The space is now the Center for Native Arts and Cultures.
