Meenakshisundaram Ramasamy Krishnamurthy better known as Kishmu was an Indian film and stage actor. He is also brother of famous actor and director Visu. Kishmu made his debut in the Visu-directed film Manal Kayiru in 1982. Other notable film appearances include Manal Kayiru, Dowry Kalyanam, Chidambara Rahasiyam, Samsaram Adhu Minsaaram, Thirumathi Oru Vegumathi,Vedikkai En Vadikkai Nanayam illatha Nanayam, Kavalan Avan Kovalan, and Varavu Nalla Uravu.

Film career

After his career in theatre, Kishmu began acting with his brother, Visu. Kishmu made his acting debut in the second film directed by Visu, Manal Kayiru (1982), which received critical and commercial acclaim. In 1985, Kishmu acted in Aval Sumangalithan , and in 1986 played the role of protagonist in Samsaram Adhu Minsaram and Oomai Vizhigal , which both received positive reviews. In his early acting career, Kishmu acted only in his brother's films, but eventually went on to act in others, performing in over 50 films from 1982 to 1990. [1] [2]

Meenakshisundaram Ramasamy Viswanathan, best known by his stage name Visu, was an Indian writer, director, stage, film and television actor and talk-show host. Visu initially worked as an assistant to director K. Balachander until becoming a director himself. He later began acting, with his first film being Kudumbam Oru Kadambam (1981), directed by S. P. Muthuraman.

Samsaram Adhu Minsaram is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language drama film produced by AVM Productions, and written and directed by Visu. He also stars as part of an ensemble cast including Lakshmi, Chandrasekhar, Kishmu, Raghuvaran, Delhi Ganesh, Ilavarasi, Manorama, Madhuri, Kamala Kamesh, Dilip and Haja Sheriff. The film revolves around the splintering of a joint family, and the efforts made by the patriarch's eldest daughter-in-law to reunite them.

Chidambara Rahasiyam is a 1985 Indian Tamil-language comedy thriller film written and directed by Visu. It stars Visu, S. Ve. Shekher, Delhi Ganesh, Arun Pandian, Ilavarasi and Manorama. The film revolves around a simpleton who is framed for murder. Here enters Visu who teams up with the local police and Arun Pandian to find the real culprits. The subject matter of the film is not related directly to Chidambara Rahasiyam, a Hindu religious belief. The film was released on 14 December 1985.

Manal Kayiru is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language comedy drama film written and directed by Visu in his directorial debut. The film stars S. Ve. Shekher and Shanthi Krishna, with Visu, Manorama, Kishmu and Kuriakose Ranga portraying supporting roles. It is based on Visu's play Modi Masthan. The film was released on 7 May 1982. It was remade in Kannada as Savira Sullu, in Telugu as Pelli Chesi Chupistham and in Malayalam as Thiruthalvaadi. A sequel, Manal Kayiru 2, was released in 2016 with Shekar, Visu, and Ranga reprising their roles.

Vinodhini is an Indian actress, who has appeared in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films and Tamil serials. Beginning her acting career as a child artist, she went on to play lead and supporting roles before acting in television series as well. She was credited as Shwetha in Kannada films.

Manal Kayiru 2 is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language comedy drama film directed by Madhan Kumar, starring S. Ve. Shekher, Jaishree, Ashwin Shekhar and Poorna. The film is a sequel to the 1982 film, Manal Kayiru and Shekher, Visu, and Kuriakose Ranga reprise their roles from the original. The film received negative reviews and was a box-office bomb. This is the last film for Visu before his death.

Veedu Manaivi Makkal is a 1988 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by T. P. Gajendran in his directorial debut. The film stars Visu, K. R. Vijaya, Pandiyan and Seetha. It was released on 15 January 1988, and was commercially successful. The film was remade in Kannada as Ganda Mane Makkalu, in Telugu as Illu Illalu Pillalu and in Malayalam as Kudumba Vishesham.

Uravukku Kai Koduppom is a 1975 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Y. G. Mahendran, produced and written by K. S. Gopalakrishnan. It is based on Visu's play of the same name, also directed by Mahendran. The film stars Gemini Ganesan and Sowcar Janaki. It was released on 28 March 1975, and failed at the box office, although the story was reused by Visu for Samsaram Adhu Minsaram in 1986.
