Critical reception

Clive Davis of The Times rated the film four out of five stars, and called the film "enormous fun". [8] Patrick Marmion of The Daily Mail stated in his review: "A simple love story about two people who just can’t stand each other, Kiss Me Kate is unmissable all-zinging entertainment with ‘great songs, hot dancing, smart gags and glorious characters". [9]
