Kjell Bertil Leonard Bergqvist (born 23 February 1953) is a Swedish actor.
Bergqvist finished the Royal Dramatic Training Academy in 1973 and made his debut in En enkel melodi and Jack. He has since cooperated for many years with scriptwriter and director Ulf Malmros. During the 1990s he participated in several police films playing Martin Beck's colleague Lennart Kollberg. He played two different characters in the Swedish horror television series Chock in 1997. In 2001, he got a Guldbagge Award for his lead role in Den bästa sommaren and in 2002 he was nominated for the lead role Leif in Leva livet . Across three season, he portrayed the titular role of Bäckström (2020, 2022, 2024).
Kjell was for a time married to Miss Universe 1984 winner Yvonne Ryding (Yvonne Ryding-Bergqvist; currently divorced).
He starred in Avicii's music video Silhouettes, as the doctor. This video was released on 7 June 2012.
The Olsen Gang is a Danish comedy film series created by Danish director Erik Balling and special effects expert Henning Bahs about the eponymous fictional criminal gang. The gang's leader is the criminal genius and habitual offender Egon Olsen and his accomplices are Benny and Kjeld. Jägarna is a Swedish crime drama TV series, which was broadcast on C More and TV4 from 14 November 2018. The first season of six episodes was filmed in Älvsbyn, Norrbotten County with Jens Jonsson and Johan Lundin directing. It was created by Björn Carlström and Stefan Thunberg who were also its main script writers. Appearing in both seasons, Rolf Lassgård reprises his lead role as Erik Bäckström from Swedish films The Hunters and False Trail. Carlström co-wrote both films while Thunberg co-wrote False Trail. Erik is a retired policeman who unofficially investigates a local murder involving mining company boss Markus. The second season of six episodes began on 8 March 2021 with Jonsson and Lundin directing and Carlström and Thunberg as main script writers. Erik re-investigates the 2005 murder of a local woman, which Erik had ascribed to her boyfriend Joar. Lassgård is joined across both seasons by Johan Marenius Nordahl, who portrays Erik's nephew and rookie policeman Peter, Annika Nordin, who reprises her False Trail role as Peter's mother Karin, and Caroline Johansson Kuhmunen as Peter's love interest Liza.
Bäckström is a Swedish television crime drama series, which was broadcast on C More Film from 23 March 2020. It is based on Leif G. W. Persson's book series about police inspector Evert Bäckström. An American TV series, Backstrom (2015), is based on the same character, but transposed to Portland, Oregon. For the Swedish show Evert is depicted by Kjell Bergqvist, across three seasons of six episodes each. Season one's action is largely set in Stockholm and its surroundings, filming began in Gothenburg in March 2019 with Jonathan Sjöberg and Amanda Adolfsson directing three episodes each. Sjöberg was also the main scriptwriter with Dennis Magnusson. Assisting in each season are Evert's colleagues Ankan, Toivonen, Kristian, Adam and Peter. Evert mentors his upstairs neighbour Edvin.
