The Kochi International Book Festival is an annual event conducted at the coastal city of Kochi, Kerala, India. This festival is organized by the AntharashtraPusthakotsava Samithi, Kochi, a registered charitable society established to promote reading, encourage writing and to heighten an awareness of Literacy and Literary arts in the State of Kerala. [1]

The festival is past its 11th edition now. The number of stalls has increased over the years, and there were close to 300 stalls during the 2007 edition of the festival. The Book Festival, referred in local language as Antharashtra Pustakolsav. [2] It is usually conducted during the December of every year, although it started off as a January festival.

Children's Book Festival

Children's Book Festival was organised in Dec 2015 as a run-up to the event. It was reported that over 100 schools were contacted and children were encouraged to bring books from home and display them. [3]

Onam Annual festival of Kerala, India

Chennai Book Fair

Chennai Book Fair or Madras Book Fair is an annual book fair organized in Chennai, India by the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI). The fair typically lasts for about two weeks during the New Year-Pongal season. The fair is usually held between the last week of December and the third week of January. In 2016, following the 2015 South Indian floods, for the first time, the book fair was rescheduled to be held in May. Instead, an alternate low-key Pongal Book Fair was held between 13 and 24 January for book lovers and tourists.

Cochin Flower Show

The Cochin Flower Show is a garden show held each year for five to six days in February - March days by the Ernakulam district Agri-Horticultural Society at the city of Kochi, Kerala, India. It used to be conducted at the Subhash Park, Park Avenue Road, Kochi until 2006. But, since 2007, the venue has been changed to Ernakulathappan Ground.

The Changampuzha Park is a recreational park and a venue for various cultural activities in the city of Kochi, Kerala, India. Established in 1977, the park is situated at Edapally, the birthplace of the great poet Changampuzha Krishna Pillai, on the side of the National Highway leading to Aluva. Joseph, a professor of Malayalam at Newman College, Thodupuzha, a Christian minority institution affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University had his hand cut off at the wrist on allegation of blasphemy, by members of Popular Front of India, an extremist Islamic organisation in southern India.

Kochi-Muziris Biennale International art exhibition held in Indian city, Kochi

The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an international exhibition of contemporary art held in the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. It is the largest art exhibition in the country and the biggest contemporary art festival in Asia. The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an initiative of the Kochi Biennale Foundation with support from the Government of Kerala. The concept of Kochi-Muziris Biennale was ideated and executed by Dr. Venu IAS, who was the culture Secretary, Government of Kerala The exhibition is set in spaces across Kochi, with shows being held in existing galleries, halls, and site-specific installations in public spaces, heritage buildings and disused structures.

R. Sreelekha is an officer in the Indian Police Service and the first Lady Officer of the IPS from Kerala, India. Sreelekha is also an author and has also served as managing director for public sector organisations in Kerala. During her tenure in the CBI, she earned the nickname of 'Raid Sreelekha'.

Mathew Mullasseril Alex, popularly known as Dr. M. M. Alex was an Indian actor and a Human Life Scientist. He was known for starring in blockbuster Malayalam films, Rajavinte Makan (1986) and Thoovanathumbikal (1987) A career actor turned scientist, Alex had produced more than 220 documentaries and digitisations on World Peace, Religion, Tourism, Health Systems and Human Rights. He was also the founder of Vedik India Society and The Institute of Ancient Integrative Therapies Research. He also served as the jury member for the National Film Awards.

St. Marys Orthodox Syrian Cathedral, Piravom Church in Kerala, India

St. Mary's Orthodox Syrian Cathedral, Piravom, also known as Piravom Valiyapally, is a prominent church that belongs to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The church stands on a hilltop on the eastern bank of the Muvattupuzha river at Piravom, 35 km. east of Kochi. The church was built by the ancient Syrian Christians in the name of Holy Mary.
