Uttam Kumar, widely known as Mahanayak, was an Indian film actor, producer, director, screenwriter, composer, and playback singer who predominantly worked in Bengali cinema. His career spanned three decades, from the late 1940s until his death in 1980. Kumar is regarded as one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema and also the most popular and successful film star in Bengal.

The movie was remade in Hindi as Kala Pani in 1958.
Bipasha is a 1962 Indian Bengali-language drama film starring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen. and directed by Agradoot. The film is based on a novel titled Bipasha by Sri Tarashankar Bandyopadhay.The story fleetingly describes the horror of riots in West Pakistan during the time of Partition of India. Bipasa was described as a victim of that riot in the film. However, the film deviates from the original novel and avoids describing Bipasha as a gang rape victim by Pakistani Islamist rioters.
Byomkesh was a 2014 Indian Bengali crime fiction television series based on the Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The series starred Gaurav Chakrabarty, Saugata Bandyopadhyay and Ridhima Ghosh as Byomkesh Bakshi, Ajit and Satyabati respectively. The series premiered on 20 November 2014 on Colors Bangla channel and ended on 14 November 2015. This series is re-runned on 4 March 2024. The first episode was narrated by Sabyasachi Chakrabarty.

Goyenda Ginni was an Indian Bengali crime drama anthology television series that premiered on 7 September 2015 to 25 December 2016 and aired on Zee Bangla. It was produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, it starred Indrani Haldar, Saheb Chatterjee, Aditi Chatterjee and Indrajeet Bose. It marks the comeback of Haldar into Bengali television. It replaced the show Raage Anuraage. It got back in March 2020 due to COVID-19 situation. This Show is 4th time repeat telecast on Zee Bangla on 13 May 2024 ; It fetched a highest trp of 8.0.
Dhanyee Meye is a 1971 Bengali romantic comedy film directed by Arabinda Mukhopadhyay. The cast includes Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee, Partho Mukherjee, Jaya Bhaduri, Jahor Roy and Nripati Chattopadhyay. This was Bhaduri's third film overall and only her second Bengali film. The music of the film was composed by Nachiketa Ghosh.

This movie stars Uttam Kumar, Molina Devi, Bharati Devi, Sabitri Chatterjee and Kamal Mitra in the lead roles. This was the first time Uttam Kumar appeared under this name and kept it permanently from change to Arup Kumar. This was the first ever collaborations of Uttam Kumar and Agradoot. Sonar Harin is a 1959 Indian Bengali-language action thriller spy film co-written and directed by Mangal Chakravarty. This film was written by Rashbehari Lal. The production company for this film is National Pictures. It was distributed by S.K. Films. The music for the film was composed by Hemanta Mukherjee. The film stars Uttam Kumar, Kali Bannerjee Supriya Choudhury in lead and this is the first film that Supriya Devi appears as a leading heroine. Others Bhanu Banerjee, Chhabi Biswas and Tarun Kumar played in supporting roles.

Pratikaar is a 1987 Indian Bengali-language vigilante action film written and directed by Prabhat Roy. Produced by Pranab Basu under the banner of Chandima Films, the film stars Victor Banerjee, Chiranjeet Chakraborty and Debashree Roy in lead roles, while Utpal Dutt, Madhabi Mukherjee, Satabdi Roy, Shakuntala Barua, Sukhen Das, Biplab Chatterjee, Chhaya Devi and Nimu Bhowmik play supporting roles. The screenplay and dialogues were also written by Prabhat Roy. The soundtrack album and background score was composed by Bappi Lahiri, with the lyrics penned by Gauriprasanna Mazumder. It plots the story of an intelligent student Shankar, who becomes a vigilante after the violent murder of his mother and brutal rape of his sister, by the local goons who kidnaps women and sell them outsides. When he starts avenging, DSP Rajib Chowdhury who is childhood friend of Shankar, comes on the board to investigate the murder mysteries done by Shankar.
