Kokopelli Winery & Bistro is a winery in Arizona, United States. It is one of the largest wineries in the state of Arizona. [1] [2]

History

The winery planted its first grapes in 1991 on land about 20 miles north of Willcox, Arizona, first harvested in 1994, and opened in 1995. The winery was founded by Don and Carol Michella, and Herve and Florent Lescombes. [3] [4] Herve Lescombes was a sixth generation winemaker, with a family history of making wine in France and North Africa. [3] It became Arizona's largest winery in 1995, producing over 5,400 cases that year. [3]

Its first winery location was in Chandler (part of the Phoenix metropolitan area), and it opened its second location and restaurant in Surprise in the summer of 2008. [5] [6]

Kokopelli wines have won multiple awards in regional wine competitions. [7] [8]

Metrocenter was a regional enclosed shopping mall in northwest Phoenix, Arizona. It was bounded by Interstate 17, 31st, Dunlap and Peoria Avenues. Before its closure, the three most recently open anchor stores were Harkins Theatres, Walmart Supercenter, and Dillard's Clearance Center; three additional vacant anchor stores included former Sears, JCPenney, and Macy's locations. The mall featured 100 stores, a 12 screen movie theater, and a food court. Since January 2021, the mall had been owned by the Carlyle Development Group based in New York City. The mall officially closed on June 30, 2020.

Morgan Creek Vineyards is a winery in Harpersville, Alabama, United States. Regionally well-known, it is one of eleven wineries in the state. Nassau Valley Vineyards was the first winery in the state of Delaware in the United States, and is currently the largest in the state. When jazz singer Peggy Raley decided to open a winery in Delaware, she first had to get the local state legislature to pass a law allowing wineries in the state. By 1991 she drafted the necessary legislation, and she obtained a license and opened the vineyard in 1993. Until October 2007, when Pizzadili Winery opened, it was the first and only winery in the state. Gruet Winery is a New Mexico winery and family business founded in 1984. It specializes in Methode Champenoise sparkling wines using Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, and also produces some still wine. It traces its history to Gilbert Gruet's Champagne house, Gruet e Fils, which he established in 1952 in Bethon, France. After a visit to New Mexico in 1983 and meeting with a group of European vinters who had successfully planted vineyards there, Natalie and Laurent Gruet planted an experimental vineyard of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Engle, New Mexico about 10 miles from Truth or Consequences. The first release was in 1989, principally sparkling wine. In 1993, Gruet opened its own winery and tasting room in Albuquerque.
