Koolmuzone is one of the leading [1] Pakistani music blogs started in 2004 by Hamad Dar. [2]

The website has remained inactive since 2014 with no new updates on it.

Content

Koolmuzone hosts music related news and allow newbie singers to get their music reviewed. [3] After the site established its base, veteran singers also started uploading their music here. [2] The other area this blog keep tabs on is the entertainment industry of Pakistan. It also reviews and updates about the underground music industry of Pakistan. [3] It almost every day publishes music and videos from these underground musicians. [4]

Koolmuzone first came to limelight when it revealed Coke Studio, a Pakistani Music show's second season's lineup before the official release. As of 2012 the site attracts 350,000 to 400,000 hits a month [2] and currently ranks at 1,920 among Pakistani websites. [5]

Awards

Koolmuzone won the Pakistan Blog Award for best Music blog in 2010. [3] [6]

The popularity of music is based on the individual sales of a single, viewership of its music video or the singer's album chart positions. Apart from within Pakistan, Pakistani pop music has also achieved an influential following and popularity in neighboring countries and is listened by members of the Pakistani diaspora, especially in the Middle East, Europe and North America.

Aunty Disco Project is an indie rock band from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, formed in 2006. The band's initial line-up consisted of Omar Bilal Akhtar as vocalist and guitarist, along with bassist Imran Lodhi, guitarist Khawer Khan and drummer Omar Khalid, since then there had been many changes in the line-up but the current line-up has only Omar Bilal Akhtar on the lead vocals and lead guitars, Imran Lodhi on Bass, Khawer Khan on guitars & Hamza Qureshi on the drums. The band was widely regarded as one of the best live acts in the country.

Strings was a Pakistani pop/rock band composed of two members, plus four live band members from Karachi, Pakistan. The band was initially formed by four college students—Bilal Maqsood, Faisal Kapadia (vocals), Rafiq Wazir Ali (synthesizer) and Kareem Bashir Bhoy —in 1988. In 1992 the quartet disbanded, only to make a comeback with Maqsood and Kapadia in 2000. While the initial band rode the new wave of Pakistani pop music, the later lineup ushered a revival in the Pakistani music industry.

Badar uz Zaman was a Pakistani classical singer. He contributed to Pakistani Classical Music by promoting and re-interpreting compositions of the sub-continent's Muslim composers. Zaman performed with his brother, Ustad Qamar-uz-Zaman, carrying forward the Pakistan's own "Kasur Gharana" traditions of the art of Khayal music. Classical singers typically represent Indian Gharanas of Music.

Nescafé Basement is a Pakistani music television series which features studio-recorded performances by underground and emerging artists. The show is produced by Nescafé. The artists are recruited and mentored by Xulfi, who is also the music producer of the show. The first song released from Nescafé Basement was a cover of Sajjad Ali's "Larri Adda".

Yasir M Jaswal is a Pakistani singer, writer, filmmaker, and award-winning music director.

Hamayoon Khan is a Pakistani Pashto musician and singer from Lower Dir, Pakistan. He is also featured in Coke Studio Season 5 Khan is a native of Munjai.

Farhad Humayun was a Pakistani singer, drummer, record producer and video artist. He was popularly associated with the Pakistani drum jam band Overload which he founded in 2003. Farhad started his career as underground musician and formed two bands Co-Ven and Mindriot as a drummer. He worked with artists such as Atif Aslam, Symt, Maha Ali Kazmi and Meesha Shafi. Humayun received many awards and accolades for his work. He was also the owner of Riot Studios, a recording studio and music performance venue in Lahore.

Shahida Mini, also known as Mini is a Pakistani film actress and singer. She runs her own production house called SM Production.
