Kornelia Kashiimbindjola Shilunga (born 25 May 1970,in Okadila,Oshana Region) is a Namibian politician and member of the National Assembly since 2015. [1] She currently serves as the Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy. [2] and became the first woman Deputy Minister at the Ministry. [3] Shilunga has a satisfactory employment history. [4] The assiduous Deputy Minister worked in various positions as a teacher and a registered nurse. [5]
Shilunga holds two master's degrees,one in Business Administration from the Eastern Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) and another in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Namibia (UNAM). She also has a bachelor's degree in Nursing Education and Community Health and a Diploma in Nursing Science General,Community Psychiatry,and Midwifery Sciences,also from the University of Namibia and matriculated at Gabriel Taapopi Senior Secondary School in Ongwediva in 1989. [6] She also graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Hons from the University of Namibia in April 2023.
She worked at the Office of the President as a Liaison Officer for the Department of Women Affairs,where she headed two regions,respectively Oshana and Omusati Region. Hon. Shilunga has been an entrepreneur for the past nine years. [7] She also worked for the Ministry of Gender and Child Welfare where she held the position of Chief Liaison Officer. Shilunga is an entrepreneur,a member of the Advisory Committee of Skill Share International in Namibia,a member of the Women and Child Protection Unit Committee,and a member of the Prison's Zonal Release Board in the Ministry of Safety and Security.
Her interests include energy and extractive industries. She serves as the Patron of the World Energy Council Namibia,the Chairperson of the Namibian Energy Council,and the Patron of the Women in Mining Association of Namibia. [8] [9]

Mining is the biggest contributor to Namibia's economy in terms of revenue. It accounts for 25% of the country's income. The Husab Mine,operated under the Husab Uranium Project,is a uranium mine near the town of Swakopmund in the Erongo region of western-central Namibia. Swakop Uranium believes the Husab Mine has the potential to become the second largest uranium mine in the world after the McArthur River uranium mine in northern Saskatchewan,Canada and the largest open-pit mine on the African continent. Mine construction started in February 2013. The Husab Mine started production towards the end of 2016 after completion of the sulfuric acid leaching plant.
The Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) is the national police force of Namibia. It was established by the Namibian Constitution and enacted by an act of Parliament. The Namibian Police Force replaced the South West African Police as the national police force of the country in 1990. Sebastian Ndeitunga was its inspector general since 2005 to 2022. Ester-Anna-Liisa Shiwomwenyo Nghipondoka is a Namibian politician and member of SWAPO. She was appointed the Minister of Education,Arts and Culture in March 2020 after having worked as deputy minister with the same portfolio since 2015. In 2021 under her ministry they have implemented a new education curriculum called Advanced Subsidiary (AS). She further stated in 2022 that "the new curriculum is not bad". Nghipondoka also encouraged the teachers to embrace the new curriculum despite the challenges it has.
