The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played first class cricket in 1926–27 and became an associate member of the ICC in 1965. They made their international debut in the 1975 Cricket World Cup and were later awarded the Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket-playing nation. He was part of the Sri Lankan team that won the 2014 ICC World Twenty20.
Deshabandu Romesh Shantha Kaluwitharana is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who represented the Sri Lanka national cricket team from 1990 to 2004. He was a key member and wicket-keeper for 1996 Cricket World Cup winning team and renowned for his aggressive batting style.

He was part of the Sri Lankan team which finished as runners-up at the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Herath Mudiyanselage Rangana Keerthi Bandara Herath, known as Rangana Herath, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, who played all forms of cricket game and a former Test cricket captain for Sri Lanka. Considered as one of the best spinners to ever play the game, Herath is the most successful left arm bowler in Test cricket history. Herath was a member of the Sri Lankan team that won the 2014 ICC World Twenty20.
Abdul Qadir Khan SI was an international cricketer who bowled leg spin for Pakistan. Abdul Qadir is widely regarded as a legendary leg spinner from the 1970s and 1980s and was a role model for up and coming leg spinners. Qadir was voted the best player in the Group B matches of the 1987 Cricket World Cup and won a car which he donated to Imran Khan for his Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre project. Later he was a commentator and Chief Selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board, from which he resigned in 2009 due to differences of opinion with leading Pakistan cricket administrators.
Mahawaduge Dilruwan Kamalaneth Perera is a Sri Lankan former international cricketer, who played for Sri Lanka in all formats of the game. He plays domestically for the Colts Cricket Club. Perera is a right-arm offbreak bowler and right-handed batsman. Started as an opening batsman, Perera was the quickest Sri Lankan bowler to reach both 50 and 100 Test wickets in Sri Lanka until he was surpass by Prabath Jayasuriya. De Silva was a key member of the Sri Lankan team that won 1996 Cricket World Cup, where he scored a match winning century in the final, that brought Sri Lanka from underdog status to present-day form. He has held various posts in Sri Lankan Cricket after his retirement in 2003. He was inducted into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2023.

He is currently the most experienced fast bowler in the Sri Lanka Cricket team. He missed many opportunities to play for Sri Lanka due to his injuries.
Jeffrey Dexter Francis Vandersay is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who currently plays limited overs cricket for the national team. He is an alumnus of Wesley College, Colombo.
Dhananjaya Maduranga de Silva is a Sri Lankan professional cricketer, who plays for Sri Lanka in all formats of the game and for Tamil Union in domestic cricket and current captain of the national team in Test cricket. In November 2017, he was named the Test batsman of the year for the 2016–17 season at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards.
Dunith Nethmika Wellalage is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer currently plays limited overs cricket for the national side. He made his international debut for the Sri Lanka cricket team in June 2022 to a series against Australia. He was educated at St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa and St. Joseph's College, Colombo 10.
Lokumarakkalage Dilshan Madushanka is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who currently plays limited over internationals for Sri Lanka. He is a past pupil of Hungama Vijayaba Central College, Hungama.
