Krissy Scurfield OLY (born 15 June 2003) is a Canadian rugby union player. She won a silver medal in the rugby sevens at the 2024 Summer Olympics. [1]

Career

A student at the University of Victoria, Scurfield was the only Canadian woman named to the World Rugby Series’ Dream Team in 2022 and was the Canadian’s top try scorer despite only featuring in half the games. [2] Scurfield was selected to play for Canada at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in rugby sevens. [3]

Scurfield competed for Canada at the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town. [4] [5] They placed sixth overall after losing to Fiji in the fifth place final. [6] [7]

Chosen for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, [8] she suffered an internal laceration during the group stages and missed the rest of the tournament. [9] [10] The team went on to win a silver medal. [11] [12]

Personal

Scurfields father, Allan Scurfield was the 1984 Canadian National high-board diving champion who competed with Canada's National Team at both the Commonwealth and Pan-American Games. [13]

Blyde holds the record for the most tries by a New Zealand women sevens player in a single match and also the record for most tries in a single fixture when she scored five tries against England in Langford in 2017. Blyde has won gold medals at the 2018 Sevens World Cup, 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2020 Tokyo Olympics, 2024 Paris Olympics and six Sevens titles. In December 2023 She was the second woman to score 200 tries in the HSBC international seven series.

Sevuloni Mocenacagi is a Fijian rugby player who plays as a forward or centre in the Fiji national rugby sevens team. According to Gareth Baber, the coach of the Fiji Sevens team: "Last year he [Mocenacagi] was a forward and this year we're using him in that centre position. He's a threat every time he gets the ball, he's a big powerful runner." Mocenacagi comes from Nukuilau, Navosa on the Island of Viti Levu.
