Kristi Bredbenner is an American softball coach who is the current head coach at Witchita State. [1]

Early life and education

Bredbenner graduated from the Truman State University in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in business/marketing. She earned her master's in physical education in 2005 from Azusa Pacific University.

Coaching career

Witchita State

On June 6, 2011, Bredbenner was announced as the new head coach of the Wichita State Shockers softball program. [2] [3] [4]

On June 6, 2023, Bredbenner signed a contract extension to keep her as head coach through 2028. [5] [6]

Honors and personal life

Bredbenner was inducted into the Truman Hall of Fame in 2014. [7]

The Wichita State Shockers are the athletic teams that represent Wichita State University, located in Wichita, Kansas, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks, primarily competing in the American Athletic Conference since the 2017–18 academic year. The Shockers previously competed in the D-I Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) from 1945–46 to 2016–17; as an Independent from 1940–41 to 1944–45; in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIC) from 1923–24 to 1939–40; and in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) from 1902–03 to 1922–23. Mitch Barnhart is the athletics director for the Kentucky Wildcats athletics program at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. Barnhart was hired by the university in 2002 succeeding Larry Ivy. Barnhart served in the same capacity at Oregon State University from 1998 to 2002. He is the university's tenth athletics director. In August 2023 Barnhart signed an extension on his contract which will keep him at Kentucky until 2028.

The 2021–22 Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Drake University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by fourth-year head coach Darian DeVries. They played their home games at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa as members of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). They finished the regular season 22–9, 13–5 in MVC play to finish in a tie for second place. As the No. 3 seed in the MVC tournament, they defeated Southern Illinois in the quarterfinals and Missouri State in the semifinals before losing to Loyola in the championship.

Lauren Karn is an American former softball player and current head coach at Maryland. She previously served as the head coach at Oakland.
