Kristina Carlson (born 31 July 1949 in Helsinki), also known by her pen name Mari Lampinen, [1] is a Finnish novelist, poet and writer. [2]
Her novels include Maan ääreen, Herra Darwinin puutarhuri and William N. Päiväkirja. She has also written several books for young adults. Carlson lives in Helsinki.
Frans Eemil Sillanpää was one of the most famous Finnish writers and in 1939 became the first Finnish writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize for literature "for his deep understanding of his country's peasantry and the exquisite art with which he has portrayed their way of life and their relationship with Nature".

She was later known as SS Borea, before being rebuilt as cruise ship in 1988. 1988 to 2010 she was owned by the Finnish shipping company Kristina Cruises and known as MS Kristina Regina until she was retired because she did not comply with new safety regulations.

Fagerholm made her debut in 1987 with Sham but her real breakthrough in the literary scene was in 1994 with Underbara kvinnor vid vatten. The book was nominated for the Finlandia Prize, which is the biggest literary prize in Finland. It was also nominated for the August prize in 1995, in Sweden and also the International Dublin Literary Award in 1998. In 1994, she received the Runeberg Award in Finland. The movie adaptation of the novel by Claes Olsson premiered in 1998. Fagerholm received the August prize in 2005 for Den amerikanska flickan.
