The Malay Peninsula is a peninsula in Mainland Southeast Asia. The landmass runs approximately north–south, and at its terminus, it is the southernmost point of the Asian continental mainland. The area contains Peninsular Malaysia, Southern Thailand, and the southernmost tip of Myanmar (Kawthaung). The island country of Singapore also has historical and cultural ties with the region. The indigenous people of the peninsula are Orang Asli and Malays, an Austronesian people.

The Duano' people, also called Desin Dolak or Desin Duano' are an indigenous people of Malaysia and Indonesia and can be found in islands along the northeastern region of Sumatra, Indonesia where most Duano' people have traditionally lived. They are one of the Proto-Malay group of cultures. Due to their nomadic boat lifestyle, based almost exclusively on fishing and collecting shellfish and crustaceans by using mud-boards, Duano' people are often categorized as Orang Laut, a group that includes the Urak Lawoi’ people and Moken people of the northern region of the Malacca Strait and the Andaman Sea. Although there are similarities in their way of life, they are a separate ethnic group. Citing their own language, culture, identity, and economic complexities, they deny being Orang Laut.
The Linggi River is a river in Malaysia which flowing through the states of Negeri Sembilan and Malacca. It is one of two major rivers that serve as water sources for most of Negeri Sembilan's population, the other being the Muar River, which constitutes the state's eastern half.

The Orang Seletar are also considered as part of the Orang Laut, natives of the Straits of Johor; separating Singapore from Peninsula Malaysia.
The Port of Kuala Sungai Linggi, or Sungai Linggi commercially known as Linggi International Floating Transshipment & Trading HUB (LIFT-HUB), is a transshipment area for liquid bulk transshipments and break-bulking from western regions such as the Middle East to eastern regions or Australia located offshore of Linggi River in the Malacca Strait. It is among the largest designated ship-to-ship cargo transfer area in Malaysia. Gazetted in 2006, Port of Sungai Linggi covers area of 154 km² and has catered over 1000 tankers including ULCC and VLCC's since its beginning. The name "Kuala Linggi" was named after the name of the nearby river, Linggi River. Linggi means 'stem' in Buginese and refers to the strongest vertical plate at the bow of a ship.
The Kuala Linggi Bridge is a bridge border of Negeri Sembilan and Malacca crossing Linggi River, Malaysia. The bridge is located near Dutch Fort in Melaka side. It was officially opened on 10th July 1990 by fourth Malaysian Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad.

The district borders Sepang District, Selangor to the north, the Strait of Malacca to the west, Seremban District to the northeast, Rembau District to the east, and Alor Gajah District, Malacca to the south. It also surrounds Tanjung Tuan, an exclave of Malacca under the jurisdiction of Alor Gajah District, to its southwest.
Permatang Damar Laut is a coastal village within the city of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is located at the southern tip of Penang Island, about 17 km (11 mi) south of the city centre, making it the southernmost human settlement on the island. The state constituency was first contested in 1986 and is mandated to return a single Assemblyman to the Malacca State Legislative Assembly under the first-past-the-post voting system.
