Kumar Sankar Ray

Kumar Sankar Ray was born in 1882 and was a scion of the zamindar family of Teota (now in Bangladesh). Although initially trained as a barrister he never took up law as his profession. Instead, he entered politics as part of the Swarajya Party, founded by Chittaranjan Das and was elected to the Central Legislative Assembly on a Congress ticket. He was a member of the Council of State until his death in 1944. He was an elder cousin to the nationalist leader Kiran Sankar Roy. [1]

On his return to India, he settled down near Nanguneri and continued his acts of entrepreneurship and philanthropy.

Parappil Puthiyapurayil Ummer Koya was an Indian politician, Gandhian, freedom fighter and educationist. He was the second Education Minister of Government of Kerala headed by Pattom Thanu Pillai. He also served as the Minister for Public Works in government headed by R. Sankar.

Gouri Sankar Dutta was an Indian Politician from the state of West Bengal. He was a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. He represented the Tehatta assembly constituency as a member of the All India Trinamool Congress. In March 2021, he along with Bachchu Hansda joined Bharatiya Janata Party after being denied ticket for 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election. He died of COVID-19 at age 70 on 28 April 2021.

Sankar Das Banerji was a Bengali Indian politician and barrister. He was the Speaker of West Bengal State Assembly and former Finance Minister of West Bengal. Banerji was a prominent criminal lawyer of his time in the Calcutta High Court. His nephew Satyabrata Mookherjee was a former Indian Union Minister of State.
