Kumarghat railway station is a small railway station in Unakoti district, Tripura. Its code is KUGT. It serves Kumarghat town. The station consists of two platforms. The platform is not well sheltered. It lacks many facilities including water and sanitation. [1] [2] [3] [4]

The Lumding–Sabroom section is a railway line under Lumding railway division of Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways. It is a single 1,676 mm broad-gauge track from Lumding in Nagaon District of Assam state to Agartala in West Tripura district of Tripura state. The 43 km-long 1,676 mm segment from Agartala southwards to Udaipur, Tripura was completed in 2016 and became operational on 23 January 2017. The remaining 70 km long track to Sabroom at the bank of Feni River at Bangladesh border was completed in 2019 and became operational on 3 October 2019.

It is the second capital city in northeast India to be connected to the country's railway map, moreover Agartala is the first state capital of independent India to be connected with a rail network. Before 2015 the 413-kilometre (257 mi) route was connected to Lumding with a metre-gauge track, but after the gauge conversion to broad gauge in 2016, the track is connected directly to Guwahati and the rest of India.

The 12504/12503 Agartala–SMVT Bengaluru Humsafar Express is the longest-running Humsafar Express and 7th longest train service of Indian Railways, It is a fully air conditioned express train, connecting Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka and Agartala railway station, Agartala, the capital city of Tripura. It is currently being operated with 12503/12504 train numbers on a weekly basis. The train runs through states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Tripura. On its journey the train also touches some parts of Jharkhand in Pakur district but does not have the stoppage there.

Agartala – Lumding Express was a daily overnight train of Indian Railways. It was the only overnight MG express train from Tripura to Assam, connecting Tripura's capital city Agartala and Lumding. It was the longest overnight MG train journey in this section. The train service is suspended now as the route in which it used to run is now converted to BG from MG. This train was the only option for the passengers of Tripura and Karimganj, who were willing to travel by train to Lumding. It used to depart from Agartala as 15696 at 16:15 and from Lumding Junction as 15695 at 21:30. The train makes its main halt at Karimganj Junction for 25 mins on both sides & loco/rake reversals also takes place here. The train was hauled by the YDM-4 class of Lumding MG diesel loco shed locomotive. 15696 used to be connected with two locos, one in front and another in the rear for pulling and pushing its way to the height of Barail Range, from Harangajao to Jatinga. It had a length of 12 coaches with both AC & non - AC. The train used to pass through 36 tunnels in Barail Range made during British Era. Now this entire route is converted to Broad Gauge & the route from Ditokcherra to Mahur is totally diverted to another hill.
