Ravi Varma Kunjikkuttan Thampuran was a Malayalam film actor, Kathakali artist and writer.
He was born in 1936 as a member of Kochi Dynasty. He got training in Kathakali from Kerala Kalamandalam and has written a book Aalukal Arangukal, in which, the lives of Kathakali artistes are depicted. [1]
He has acted in more than fifty films and several telefilms and serials. [1] Some of his notable films are Mookkilla Rajyathu, Ulladakkam, God Father , Oridathu, Kalyana Raman and Ivory Merchant. He has also acted in a Hollywood film, Cotton Mary , which was directed by Ismail Merchant.
The T. V. serials in which Thampuran acted are Chitta and Samayam. He has also played pivotal roles in Shyama Prasad's Telefilm Kariyilakaattu pole, Venalinte Ozhivu and Innale Peytha Mazha. [1] Thampuran was also seen in the central character in a documentary by Doordarshan, which created awareness among the public to keep their surroundings clean. [1] He is a follower of CPM and had written an Attakatha `Kurukshethra ' for the sake of the party. [2]
The veteran actor died on 24 August 2010. He was survived by his wife Sathi Varma who is the manager of Kathakali Kendram, son R. V. Vasudevan and daughter Suma Varma. [3] [4]

Kanakku Chembakaraman Kesava Pillai (1868–1914) was an Indian composer of Carnatic music and a poet of Malayalam literature. He was the Poet Laureate of Travancore and was known for Kesaveeyam, a mahakavya in Malayalam, two attakathas and several bhajans and kirtans. Harikrishnans is a 1998 Indian Malayalam-language mystery comedy film written and directed by Fazil. The film was produced and distributed by Suchitra Mohanlal under the production company Pranavam Arts, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal in the title roles. Juhi Chawla, Innocent, Shamili, Nedumudi Venu, Cochin Haneefa, Jagadish, Maniyanpilla Raju and Kunchacko Boban play the supporting cast. K. N. Jagannatha Varma was an Indian actor who worked in Malayalam film and television industry. He was also a Kathakali artist. His son Manu Varma is also an artist and his son-in-law Viji Thampi is a film director. He acted in a number of Malayalam movies performing roles of a senior police officer, judge or a priest. Some of his noted roles were in movies New Delhi (1987), Thanthram (1988), Lelam (1997) and Pathram (1999), all directed by Joshiy. Varma joined the Kerala Police Force in 1963, before getting active in movies. He retired from the Kerala Police as the Superintendent of Police.
Kottayam (Cotiote) was a feudal city-state in Malabar, present-day Kerala, India. Kottayam (Cotiote) is famed for Pazhassi Raja, one of the principal leaders of the Wayanad Insurrection (Kotiote Palassi rebellion or Cotiote War). Pazhassi Raja was a member of the western branch of the Kottayam royal clan. Kodungallur Kovilakam, is a palace of the royal family of the late [medieval] Kingdom of Kodungallur (Cranganore), in the modern-day Indian state of Kerala.
