Kwesachu Mixtape Vol.1 is the first collaboratively produced mixtape album by producers/songwriters Micachu and Kwes and the second mixtape album by musician Micachu. Together, the producers are known as Kwesachu. [1]

Kwesachu Mixtape Vol.1 features reworks of musicians including Hot Chip, Cibelle, Metronomy, Golden Silvers, The Invisible, Man Like Me, Finn Peters, and guests upcoming artists associated with the two musicians, including MCs Ghostpoet and DELS, Romy of The xx, Brotha May, Elan Tamara and Micachu's band The Shapes. Launch Party

A launch party was held at the Cable club in London on 5 June 2009, featuring a live Kwesachu performance which included Micachu, Kwes, Dels and Ghostpoet. [3] [4]

Releases

The mixtape was digitally released via their internet websites on 5 June 2009 in MP3 format. [5] Kwesachu Vol.1 has also been pressed onto an unknown limited number of tape cassettes, available for purchase from the Rough Trade – East Shop in Brick Lane, London. All the songs are contained as one track which lasts 51 minutes and 20 seconds.

Second Mixtape

In April 2012, the duo released their second collaborative mixtape, Kwesachu Mixtape Vol.2, which features returning collaborators DELS and Ghostpoet, amongst many others. To mark its release, the duo performed a live music show with many of their collaborators on 28 April 2012, at The Southbank Centre in London, UK. [6]

He is known for his lyricism, flow and wit on the mic.

Arcángel American reggaeton singer and songwriter

Austin Agustín Santos, better known by his stage name Arcángel, is an American singer and songwriter. He was born in New York City to Dominican parents. He and his family moved to Puerto Rico and after turning 12, he began moving back and forth between New York City and Puerto Rico. He returned to Puerto Rico in 2002, interested in becoming a performer of reggaeton, a contemporary Latin American urban music genre. While living in Puerto Rico, he would eventually form part of a popular then-underground reggaeton act, Arcángel & De La Ghetto. The duo went on to make songs that became popular among reggaeton fans in the United States and Puerto Rico, including "Agresivo", "Sorpresa" and "Mi Fanática" during the mid-2000s.

Micachu English singer, songwriter and composer

Mica Levi (;), also known by her stage name Micachu, is an English singer, songwriter, composer and producer. She is classically trained and since 2008 has released experimental pop music with her band Good Sad Happy Bad, including their critically praised debut album Jewellery in 2009.

Jewellery is the debut studio album by English musician Micachu. It was released on 9 March 2009 on a joint venture between Rough Trade Records and Accidental Records. The album features her band The Shapes, which comprises Raisa Khan and Marc Pell.

The Invisible are an English band, fronted by the singer and guitarist Dave Okumu. The band formed as Okumu's solo project but quickly developed into a full-fledged band with friends Tom Herbert and Leo Taylor (drums). Their self-titled debut album, released on 9 March 2009, was nominated for the Mercury Prize and selected as critics choice for iTunes album of the year.

Kwes is an English record producer, mixer and songwriter from London, England. Kwes is best known for his production and collaborative work. He has worked with a variety of artists including Bobby Womack, Damon Albarn, ELIZA, Kano, Kelela, Loyle Carner, Micachu, Nao, Solange, Selah Sue and Tirzah. Kwes is also currently signed to Warp Records as a solo artist and released his debut album, ilp in October 2013.

Mount Kimbie English electronic music duo

Mount Kimbie is an English electronic music duo consisting of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos. Formed in 2008, the duo departed from the musical template of the UK dubstep scene, releasing early EPs Maybes and Sketch on Glass to critical praise the following year. Their debut album Crooks & Lovers in 2010 received further acclaim and was listed as one the defining albums of the decade by of DJ Mag.

Kieren Gallear, also known as DELS, is a recording artist, graphics designer and filmmaker born in Ipswich, England, currently based in London. Gallear signed with the Ninja Tune imprint Big Dada in May 2010.

GOB is the first studio album by British rapper/graphic designer DELS, released on 2 May 2011. The album was recorded between 2009 and 2011 in London and in Dels' studio at his mother's house in Ipswich. It was produced by Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, alongside Micachu and Kwes.

Ghostpoet British singer

Obaro Ejimiwe is a British singer, songwriter and musician better known by his stage name Ghostpoet. His first album, Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam, was shortlisted for the 2011 Mercury Prize. His 2015 album Shedding Skin was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Following release of his fourth album, Dark Days + Canapés, on 18 August 2017. His fifth album I Grow Tired But Dare Not Fall Asleep was released on 1 May 2020.

We Have Band

We Have Band, also known as "WHB", is a three-piece electronic music group from Manchester and London consisting of Darren Bancroft and the husband-and-wife duo Thomas Wegg-Prosser and Dede Wegg-Prosser. They have released three albums through the French-based Naïve Records. Their first album, WHB, was released on 5 April 2010 and a ten-track second album, Ternion, was released on 29 January 2012. We Have Band have remixed many artists including Gorillaz, Bloc Party, Micachu, Peter Bjorn and John and M83.

Hakim Mouhid, better known by his stage name Canardo, is a French rapper, singer, songwriter and music producer. After working with label "Banlieue Sale Music" since 2007, in 2011, he founded his own label "Henijai Music". He is the brother of fellow French rapper La Fouine.

Gué Pequeno Italian rapper and producer

Cosimo Fini, better known by the stage name Gué Pequeno or sometimes just Gué, is an Italian rapper and record producer. He was also earlier a member of various formations, notably the hip hop duo Club Dogo with rapper Jake La Furia and producer Don Joe. Between 1999 and 2001, he was also in Sacre Scuole made up of Gué, Dargen D'Amico and MC Jake La Furia.

Sampha British musician

Sampha Lahai Sisay is an English singer, songwriter, musician and record producer from Morden, South London. Sampha is known widely for his collaborative work with SBTRKT, Jessie Ware, Drake, Kanye West, Solange and others. Sampha has released two solo EPs: Sundanza (2010) and Dual (2013). Sampha's debut album, Process, was released on 3 February 2017, through Young Turks and won the 2017 Mercury Prize.

DRC Music is a Congolese record producing and songwriting team, composed of producers Damon Albarn, Dan the Automator, XL Recordings managers Richard Russell & Rodaidh McDonald, Jneiro Jarel, DJ Darren Cunningham aka Actress, Marc Antoine, Alwest, Remi Kabaka Jr., Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Kwes. The group are responsible for the Oxfam charity album Kinshasa One Two.

<i>Petals Have Fallen</i> album by DELS

Petals Have Fallen is the second album by DELS. It was released through Ninja Tune sister label, Big Dada on November 3, 2014 on vinyl, CD and digital format.

I met most of the people that contributed to this album on MySpace back in 2005. We had a page called “Loners", where myself and the likes of Kwes, Micachu, Ghostpoet, Sampha, Coby Sey, Elan Tamara and others were all featured. We always said that we'd do a proper album together eventually. Petals Have Fallen is probably the closest thing to that happening to date.
