Kyle Alan Mack (born July 6, 1997) is an American snowboarder from West Bloomfield, Michigan, who specializes both Slopestyle and Big Air. On March 4, 2016, he won the US Open Men's Slopestyle final.

Career

Mack was born in Royal Oak, Michigan but lists his hometown as West Bloomfield. Mack's career began at the age of three, as he would ride down the driveway after every snowfall. His parents attempted to make it tradition to go skiing every weekend, but Mack had an aversion to the skis, stating "I hated skiing. I didn't like it. I took a couple hard crashes. Apparently, I threw a bunch of tantrums and never wanted to get on skis," prompting his father to put him on a snowboard. [1] At five, he began regularly riding Alpine Valley; he would never leave regardless of the weather conditions. His dedication caused Burton Snowboards to notice him at the age of seven, resulting in sponsorship. In 2010, he placed first in the Burton Open Junior Jam which skyrocketed him to new heights.

He attended Brother Rice High School in Birmingham, Michigan, [2] but missed too many days of school traveling for competitions that he transferred to Pontiac High School where he took online classes and graduated. [1]

In 2011, he was invited to join the US Snowboarding Team. He has competed in several countries' Open competitions, multiple Dew Tours, and many Grand Prix. He won a bronze medal in both big air and Slopestyle at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2015, behind Roope Tonteri and Darcy Sharpe. [3] [4] In 2016, he placed second at the Los Angeles stop of the Air & Style tour. [5] On March 4, 2016, he placed first at the US Open in Men's Slopestyle. [6]

At the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, he won the silver medal in the Men's Big Air final. [7]

Mikey grew up on the slopes of the Georgian Peaks Ski Club in Thornbury Ontario. Mikey's career was catapulted in 2012 when he won the gold medal for slopestyle at the Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. His pro resume highlights consist of a win at the 2015 Stoneham World Cup, a 2nd-place finish at the 2017 Burton US Open, a 2nd-place finish at the 2016 Fenway Park U.S. Grand Prix/World Cup Big Air, a 3rd-place finish at the 2015 Cardona World Cup, and a 4th-place finish at the 2017 Air & Style in Innsbruck. Mikey rides in the memory of his father, who he lost to cancer in October 2014.

Mons Røisland is a Norwegian snowboarder who won a bronze medal in slopestyle at Winter X Games XX.

Marcus Kleveland is a Norwegian professional snowboarder who specializes in the slopestyle and big air events. He was the first ever to complete a quad cork 1800 in competition and won gold in Slopestyle and silver in Big Air at his Winter X Games debut in 2017. He also won the world cup of Milan in November 2016. In 2018, he won 2 medals at Winter X Games : Gold at Slopestyle and a 2nd place at Big Air. Following the X Games, Kleveland attended his first Olympics at only 18, placing 6th in the Men's Slopestyle and 18th in Big Air. After the Winter Olympics, he won 3rd place at the 2018 Burton U-S Open Slopestyle. In the Big Air event at X Games 2021 he took home gold. Marcus achieved his best feat in competition obtaining three medals at the Winter X Games 2022. He took home gold in the Men's Snowboard Big Air and Men's Snowboard Knuckle Huck, as well as a silver in Men's Snowboard Slopestyle. Kleveland placed 8th in Men's Slopestyle at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Tess Coady is an Australian snowboarder from Melbourne who won bronze in the slopestyle event at the 2022 Winter Olympics. She also won a bronze medal in slopestyle at the 2021 FIS Snowboard World Championships, and a bronze medal in big air at the 2023 world championships.

The men's big air competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 14 February (qualification) and 15 February (final), at the Big Air Shougang in Beijing. Su Yiming of China won the event, his first Olympic gold medal. Mons Røisland of Norway won silver, his first Olympic medal, and Max Parrot of Canada won bronze.
