L.A. Rats is an American heavy metal supergroup formed in 2021. [1] [2]

History

The band was formed in early 2021 at the invitation of record company executive Scott Borchetta, who had been placed in charge of the soundtrack for the then-upcoming action thriller Netflix film The Ice Road . [3] The supergroup includes frontman Rob Zombie, current Mötley Crüe and former Rob Zombie guitarist John 5, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx, and Ted Nugent/Black Sabbath drummer Tommy Clufetos. [4] The musicians had worked together before in various capacities. Clufetos has played drums on several of Zombie's and John 5's albums, while John 5 had collaborated with Sixx on the soundtrack to the film The Dirt . [4]

Their first song "I've Been Everywhere", a heavy metal cover of a 1959 country song written by Geoff Mack, which has also been recorded by Hank Snow, Johnny Cash, and Asleep at the Wheel, [4] was used in The Ice Road and appeared on the accompanying soundtrack album. [5] [6] The song reached the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart in July 2021, [7] and an animated music video for the song was also released. [8]

As of late 2021 it is unclear if the supergroup will record any additional music. [9] [10]

In 2000, he formed side project group 58 with Dave Darling, Steve Gibb and Bucket Baker, issuing one album, Diet for a New America. Also in 2002, he formed the hard rock supergroup Brides of Destruction with L.A. Guns guitarist Tracii Guns. Formed in 2006, initially to record an audio accompaniment to Sixx's autobiography The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, his side band Sixx:A.M. featured songwriter, producer, and vocalist James Michael and guitarist DJ Ashba.

The Ice Road is a 2021 American action thriller film written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh. The film stars Liam Neeson as the brooding Mike McCann, and Laurence Fishburne as Jim Goldenrod with Benjamin Walker, Amber Midthunder, Marcus Thomas, Holt McCallany, Martin Sensmeier, Matt McCoy, and Matt Salinger in supporting roles. It marks Hensleigh's first film since 2011's Kill the Irishman. It follows a team of truck drivers on a dangerous mission over frozen lakes and winter roads to deliver a crucial component to save workers trapped in a collapsed diamond mine. The film was digitally released by Netflix in the United States and Canada, and by Amazon Prime Video in the United Kingdom on June 25, 2021. The film received mixed reviews from critics. A sequel titled The Ice Road 2: Road to the Sky is in production.
