The LSU Tennis Complex is a tennis facility located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. [1] The facility, built in 2015, serves as the home of the LSU Tigers and LSU Lady Tigers tennis teams. [2] It has a seating capacity of 1,400.

Tennis ball sport with racket and net

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to maneuver the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball will not gain a point, while the opposite player will.

Louisiana State University is a public research university in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The university was founded in 1853 in what is now known as Pineville, Louisiana, under the name Louisiana State Seminary of Learning & Military Academy. The current LSU main campus was dedicated in 1926, consists of more than 250 buildings constructed in the style of Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, and occupies a 650-acre (2.6 km²) plateau on the banks of the Mississippi River.

The facility provides six indoor tennis courts with a second floor grandstand that seats 300 covering 75,000 square feet. The complex also includes 12 lighted outdoor courts with a grandstand. The complex also offers the Tigers and Lady Tigers state-of-the-art locker rooms, a meeting room, players lounge, equipment room, coaches' offices, strength and conditioning center, satellite athletic training room and media room. The LSU Tennis Complex hosted the 2016 SEC Women's tennis tournament. [6]

It was originally known as the LSU Assembly Center, but was renamed in honor of Pete Maravich, a Tiger basketball legend, shortly after his death in 1988. Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer signed an act to rename the building in Maravich's honor. Maravich never played in the arena as a collegian but played in it as a member of the Atlanta Hawks in a preseason game. But his exploits while at LSU led the University to build a larger home for the basketball team, which languished for decades in the shadow of the school's football program. The Maravich Center is known to locals as "The PMAC" or "Pete's Palace", or by its more nationally known nickname, "The Deaf Dome", coined by Dick Vitale. The Maravich Center's neighbor, Tiger Stadium is known as "Death Valley".

The official capacity of the stadium is 2,671 people. Tiger Parks record attendance of 3,242 came on March 25, 2016 in a game versus the University of Florida. The stadium also features an outfield berm, renamed the Tiger Park Terrace in 2016, that can accommodate in excess of 1,200 fans. The stadium opened prior to the 2009 college softball season.

The Bernie Moore Track Stadium is an outdoor track and field facility located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. The facility, built in 1969, serves as the outdoor home of the LSU Tigers track and field team and the LSU Lady Tigers track and field team. The stadium has a seating capacity of 5,680. In 1971, the facility was renamed after former LSU football and track & field coach, Bernie Moore. Moore coached the LSU Track and Field teams for 18 years (1930–47) and led the Tigers to their first NCAA National Championship in 1933 as well as 12 SEC crowns.

Tiger Park (1997)

The original Tiger Park was a softball stadium located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It served as the home field of the LSU Tigers softball team from 1997–2008. The official capacity of the stadium was 1,000 people, however, the stadium held more than that when important rivals came to town or during post-season tournaments. The largest crowd to see a game in the original Tiger Park was on April 28, 2007 when LSU hosted Tennessee before a crowd of 2,326.

The LSU Indoor Practice Facility, built in 1991, is a climate-controlled 83,580 square feet facility connected to the Football Operations Center and adjacent to LSU's four outdoor 100-yard football practice fields. It holds the 100-yd Anderson-Feazel LSU indoor field. The playing surface is Momentum Field Turf by SportExe. The indoor practice facility is adjacent to both the football-only weight room and LSU's four outdoor practice fields. Besides allowing the team to practice during inclement weather, the indoor practice facility is used for LSU's summer endurance training and summer football camps.

The facility has 13 sand courts where tournaments are held and where LSU plays its home matches and hold practices.
