History

The name of the La Fortuna College originated from Fortunata P. Espinoza, the sister of the P. Manolo P. Espinoza, Sr., husband of Mrs. Carmelita G. Espinoza, (Chairwoman of LFC); and from the name of Fortuna Josephine Espinoza-Sagnit (youngest among 7 siblings of the Espinoza family).

The Board of Trustees of the Espinoza family instituted the school as an opportunity to leave a legacy of service to the community through education. La Fortuna College was conceptualized in 1995 and began operations in that same year with the objective of uplifting the educational quality of Nueva Ecija. LFC started on rented premises in the center of Cabanatuan with 100 students. From thereon the number of students blossomed to 500, then 1,000 to 1,500 in the succeeding years. A new building located at its present address (Brgy. Daan Sarile) was erected in 1997. It gained the moniker “The Computer College” during the Information Technology boom.[ citation needed ]
