The Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) was established to tackle hunger, reduce food wastage and provide emergency food solutions through its network of Food banks across Lagos State. LFBI aims to achieve its goals by creating, supplying, and strengthening new food banks in all the twenty (20) Local Governments Areas in Lagos State. LFBI works with religious organizations, corporate entities, and individuals to achieve their main objectives. LFBI's main targets are seniors aged 50 years and above; children aged 5–16 years; the vulnerable, the destitute; extremely indigent families and widows. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
The Lagos Food Bank Initiative has carried out nutrition-based programs in slum communities across Lagos State though numerous donations and partnerships from both individual and corporate donors.
In September 2020, the NGO partnered with Candlelight Foundation to feed the less privileged and end hunger during the COVID-19 lockdown and distributed over 55,000 meals in Lagos state.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) is a nonprofit organization that fights hunger throughout Cook County, Illinois. The GCFD distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and community programs, serving more than 800,000 adults and children every year. In fiscal year 2016, the GCFD distributed more than 70 million pounds of nonperishable food, produce, dairy products, and meat - the equivalent of more than 160,000 meals every day. Of the $96,883,955 spent in 2016, over 90% went to direct food distribution programs.

Founded in 1987, Food Banks Canada's network is made up of 10 Provincial Associations and over 500 local food banks. The organization's mission is to "enable an effective food bank community that addresses the short term need for food and longer term solutions to reduce hunger in Canada". It operates a number of programs such as the Hunger Awareness Week, HungerCount, a research report on food bank use in Canada, and a Safe Food Handling program for food banks.

The Robin Hood Army is a Zero Funds volunteer-based organisation, that works to get surplus food from restaurants to the less fortunate sections of society in cities across India and 10 other countries. The organization consists of over 218,912 volunteers (approximately) in 401 cities, and has served food to over 118.46 million people so far. The organization reaches out to homeless families, orphanages, old-age homes, night shelters, homes for abandoned children, patients from public hospitals, etc.
Food Lifeline is a non-profit organization that supplies food to different food banks across Western Washington. Food Lifeline is responsible for repackaging and delivering food to 275 different organizations that distribute meals to the Western Washington population. Out of all the food distributed to these different organizations, 30% of the meals end up coming directly from Food Lifeline alone. Food Lifeline is part of a nationwide non-profit called Feeding America and assists in collecting food that would otherwise go to waste.
Elijah Amoo Addo is a Ghanaian chef and food stylist who has become a social entrepreneur through his creation of Food for All Africa. Established in 2014, Food for All Africa is a non-profit social enterprise that operates West Africa's first community food support center. Based in the capital of Ghana, Accra, the organization uses advocacy and a food-sharing mobile phone app to feed thousands of vulnerable children through food recovery and redistribution. Working with local restaurants, supermarkets, food distribution companies, and rural small-hold farmers, Addo's organization collects leftover food or unwanted food that is close to its use-by date and redistributes it to disadvantaged children in orphanages, hospitals and lower-income schools. The organization is also working on the national policy level to make it easier for suppliers to donate food and claim tax benefits. Additionally, after discovering that as much as 46% of the food produced on farms in Ghana goes to waste because of poor roads, broken-down trucks and inefficient marketing, Food for All Africa is collaborating with a range of stakeholders in the Ghanaian food industry to find ways to reduce food wastage.
